    Jacobs (Atlanta, GA)

    Apply Now

We’re seeking a Transportation Planning Practice Lead to join our team based out of Atlanta, Georgia, who can bring their expertise in transportation planning to address today’s mobility challenges and help shape the future of infrastructure across the Southeast.

You’ll work in close collaboration with our Southeast Market Growth Director and Director of Operations to develop and implement a strategic vision for our Transportation Planning practice in Georgia and the surrounding region. This includes building and mentoring a team of planners and engineers to deliver our clients’ most complex and forward-thinking projects, while fostering the growth of our regional transportation planning team.

As a practice leader, you’ll be instrumental in driving the growth of our Transportation business and advancing the strategic goals of our unit. You’ll stay attuned to emerging trends—such as multimodal integration, equity in transportation, and smart mobility—and use that insight to help our team differentiate technically from competitors. You’ll also serve as a key connector between our National Market Solution Leaders, Southeast Sales Leaders, and our operations and delivery teams within the Transportation Business Unit.

As a senior member of our team, you’ll lead some of our most impactful planning projects, providing services in transportation systems planning, corridor studies, transit planning, and stakeholder engagement. Beyond project leadership, you’ll mentor junior staff, cultivate long-term client relationships, and play a hands-on role in business development—including strategy, positioning, proposal development, and contract negotiations. You’ll guide multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality work on schedule and within budget, while helping to shape and execute our growth strategy in the region.

At Jacobs, you’ll have access to a vast network of technical specialists and senior project managers to support your success and career development. Design your future with a company that empowers you to deliver your best work and grow in ways that matter to you.

    * Bachelor's degree in Urban Planning, Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering or a related discipline

    * Professional licensure or certification in a transportation-related field (e.g., PE, AICP, or PMP) in the State of Georgia

    * Proven understanding of transportation planning processes, including corridor studies, multimodal planning, and stakeholder engagement

    * Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex ideas clearly to clients, agencies, and the public

    * Demonstrated initiative and ability to work independently as a self-starter

    * Project management experience in transportation planning, including leading multidisciplinary teams and managing budgets and schedules

    * Proven ability to build and maintain client relationships, lead strategic pursuits, and win new work

    Ideally, you’ll also have

    * 15+ years of experience in transportation planning or a closely related field

    * A strong professional network with local and regional transportation agencies, such as GDOT, ARC, MARTA, and city/county governments in Georgia

    * Experience navigating federal, state, and local planning processes and funding programs

    * Familiarity with emerging trends in transportation, including equity, sustainability, and smart mobility
