Maintenance Outage Coordinator

The Opportunity:
The Outage Coordinator is responsible for ensuring that the Major Outage work process at the Longview Mill is being followed to minimize downtime, while ensuring safety and efficiency. Work with Area Operations Maintenance Coordinators (OMCs) to ensure planning, scheduling, and execution of large annual outages. This role ensures that all Annual Outage projects are completed safely, on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards. The coordinator will work closely with various departments, contractors, and vendors to ensure seamless execution of Outage Coordinator activities.
Key Responsibilities:
* Planning and Scheduling:
* Develop detailed outage coordination plans, including scope, schedule, and resource allocation.
* Coordinate with internal departments and external contractors to ensure all necessary resources are available.
* Create and maintain outage schedules, ensuring all activities are completed on time.
* Integrate capital projects into the overall schedule.
* Schedule and facilitate interactive planning sessions starting 6 months prior to the major outages. Enforce adherence to the mill outage planning process.
* Ensure outage plans align with project goals, deadlines, and regulatory requirements including but not limited to tank, pressure vessel and pressure relief valve testing or inspection, tube inspections and insurance requirements.
* Contribute to management of the mill outage calendar
* Coordination and Communication:
* Serve as the primary point of contact for all Outage Coordinator-related activities.
* Facilitate regular meetings with stakeholders to review progress, address issues, and ensure alignment.
* Communicate major outag eplans, schedules, and expectations to all involved parties.
* Safety and Compliance:
* Ensure all major outage activities comply with safety regulations and company policies.
* Conduct safety audits and inspections to identify and mitigate risks.
* Promote a culture of safety and continuous improvement.
* Budget and Cost Control:
* Ensure departments develop and control costs for outages within their budgets, driving cost-effective use of resources.
* Lead and monitor the process used to control outage expenses, identifying and addressing variances.
* Ensure financial reports on outage performance are communicated by Finance and the department teams
* Enforce cost control measures are followed, including scope freeze, scope change and change order processes.
* Quality Assurance:
* Ensure all precision maintenance quality standards and specifications are complete and departments submit the appropriate paperwork
* Track quality control measures and documented inspections submitted by departments to verify compliance.
* Ensure process identifies and assigns corrective actions for any quality issues promptly and effectively.
* Documentation and Reporting:
* Maintain comprehensive records of all outage activities, including plans, schedules, budgets, and reports.
* Prepare and present detailed reports on outage performance, including lessons learned and recommendations for improvement.
Qualifications:
* Education: Bachelor\u2019s degree in engineering, Project Management, or a related field.
* Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in Outage Coordination or a similar role in the maintenance or operations field.
* Skills:
* Strong project management and organizational skills.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
* Proficiency in outage planning and scheduling software.
* Knowledge of safety regulations and compliance requirements.
* Ability to manage budgets and control costs effectively.
* Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
Physical Requirements:
* Ability to work in industrial environments, including exposure to various weather conditions.
* Ability to stand, walk, and climb for extended periods.
Work Environment:
* This position may require extended working hours, including weekends and holidays, during Outage periods.
* This role involves working in both office and field environments.
