• Patient Sitter/Observer (ER)- PRN

    LifePoint Health (Pulaski, TN)


    Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN), the patient sitter provides constant observation of patients that have been identified as needing a higher level of observation due to safety concerns.

    Reports to: Unit Director

    *Essential Functions*

    Positions self to the patient based off order of the provider. If patient is a 1:1 staff must remain within arm’s reach unless notified otherwise. If the patient is in line of sight, then the patient must always be within the assigned staff member's line of sight.

    Never leave the patient alone or out of sight unless relieved by another staff member.

    Maintains constant observation of the patient's activity and behavior and documents it appropriately.

    Receives direction from the nurse of what to report, to whom and how. Understands to report the following: behavior changes, violent behavior, etc.

    Contributes to and assists in maintaining a pleasant patient environment in a safe and orderly manner.

    Maintains the privacy, confidentiality and security of all protected health information. Use and disclose only that information which is necessary to perform the function of the job.

    May accompany patient within the hospital with security while keeping patient within arm's length.

     

    *Non-Essential Functions*

    Other duties as assigned.

    Must complete all assigned education in a timely manner.

    Must complete department specific education.

    Actively participates in Foundation Safety Behavior Tools and Tactics such as Briefs, Debriefs, Huddles, Learning Board Activities, Executive Patient Safety Rounds and reporting of unanticipated and unintended patient events regardless of whether there is harm.

    *Job Requirements*

    *Minimum Education*

    High school diploma or equivalent Preferred

    *Minimum Work Experience*

    1 Year Experience in Healthcare Setting Preferred

    *Required Skills*

    Basic Life Support (BLS) Preferred

    Handle With Care within 30 days of hire
