Description:
Directly reports to Area Supervisor and is responsible for the set up and preparation of the cafeteria for daily services. Ensures the activities of cafeteria service personnel performing duties are completed as assigned. Directs subordinate staff in the absences of the Floor Supervisor to ensure cafeteria is ready at service times. Performs related food service duties necessary to ensure smooth flow of operations.
Position also covers 4 days (2 during week, 2 weekend days) for PM Supervisor.
+ Compiles list of daily tasks and assigns them to staff completed for the operation of the cafeteria, by the standards set by the department.
+ Directs the cafeteria staff in completion of all activities assigned for a smooth operational flow during meal service times. Ensures all areas of the cafeteria are properly supplied and displayed for meal service.
+ Assigns sanitation duties and ensures adherence to schedule and standards set forth by the department. Ensure all sanitation is maintained at the local and state Departments of Health.
+ Maintains full levels of food in the warmers and refrigerators to ensure proper amounts are available for each meal service. Directs any items needed to the Production Supervisor or cooks, in order not to have any food shortage occur during meal service times.
+ Ensures subordinates' compliance with all policies and procedures concerning all preparation, service and delivery of meals to visitors, patients and hospital staff.
+ Fills-in for subordinates when and where necessary to meet staffing shortages and workload demands.
+ Works with both the hot food production staff and supervisory staff on a daily basis concerning Daily Cafeteria Menu for both steam table and grill.
+ Work with Lounge Specialist to ensure all cold items for Air Curtain filled as well as Salad Bar items are prepared fresh daily. Salad Bar setup daily.
+ Ensure all EOC Standards met and maintained daily. Storage areas in an orderly fashion, refrigerators are straightened and maintained daily, refrigeration units are cleaned weekly removing all products and detail cleaning is completed.
+ May be assigned to Performs duties of Dietary Attendant I, including assisting with food preparation, dishwashing and sanitation, serving food or works on the patient tray line as needed.
+ Performs related duties such as transporting empty boxes to the trash compactor.
+ Adheres to established departmental safety guidelines.
+ Conforms to the established Standards of Behavior
+ Other duties as assigned
Position Requirements
Required:
• High School Diploma plus training acquired through work experience or education
• 1-2 years of previous job-related experience
• Basic Keyboarding Skills
Preferred:
• Administrative or technical background acquired through completion of 2 - 3 years of college
• 3-5 years of previous job-related experience
Specify Degree(s):
• Culinary training acquired through culinary school or years of experience in institutional
setting
Licensure/Certifications
Required:
• State of IL Food Service Sanitation Managers Certification
Preferred:
• Culinary Certification
**Compensation** :
Pay Range: $17.30 - $26.81 per hour
