The Perioperative Business is responsible for the development, implementation, and maintenance of financial processes related to billing, coding, reimbursement, and budgetary planning within the perioperative service line. In addition, this individual is responsible for the integration and utilization of multiple data systems in order to support day-to-day operations, data analysis, public and internal reporting, and strategic planning. This individual is responsible for monitoring the following key areas of clinical information systems: appropriate utilization as related to financial transactions, functional communication interfaces with financial systems, warranty and service contract maintenance, and administrative-level data reporting. This role is the key resource for all ROI evaluations.
Duties & Responsibilities
+ Maintains, analyzes, and reports to the Assistant Vice President of Perioperative Services all financial information related to the Perioperative Service Line
+ Develop and manage the annual operating and capital budgets for the operating room (OR) and associated perioperative services.
+ Monitor daily financial performance, including case costing, resource utilization, and revenue cycle impacts.
+ Conduct variance analysis comparing actuals to budget and collaborate with stakeholders to address deviations.
+ Track and report key performance indicators (KPIs) such as cost per case, OR utilization, and staffing productivity.
+ Partner with surgeons, service line leaders, and supply chain to manage supply expenses and standardize doctor’s preference cards.
+ Lead financial planning efforts for new technology acquisitions, service line expansions, and volume forecasting.
+ Collaborate with scheduling and billing teams to ensure accurate charge capture and compliance with coding standards.
+ Provide financial insights to support strategic planning, contract negotiations, and business case development.
+ Participate in Lean and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and reduce waste.
+ Ensure compliance with internal financial controls and external regulatory requirements.
+ Supervise support staff within perioperative services, including supply chain specialists, revenue integrity personnel, and perioperative schedulers.
+ Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
+ Ability to lead and motivate teams, manage projects, and drive process improvement.
+ Supports the Perioperative Value Analysis Committee by coordinating product evaluations, completing required documentation, facilitating clinical trials, and conducting cost-benefit and budget impact analyses.
+ Provides regular status reports and feedback to management, as needed
+ Provides regular dashboard and scorecard updates to perioperative and executive leadership.
+ Holds self and staff accountable for job performance and adherence to all policies and procedures of AnMed.
Qualifications (Bullet Points)
+ Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, or Health Administration (Required)
+ Master’s Degree (MBA, MHA) preferred.
+ Minimum of 5 years of experience in healthcare finance or hospital operations
+ Two to three years varied perioperative experience.
+ Basic computer skills (e.g., Microsoft® Word)
