    As the Teacher, you are responsible and accountable for everything that happens in the classroom. The Teacher is concerned with each child's physical, emotional, social and intellectual needs, as well as long range goals for development. The Teacher will plan, execute, monitor and document a developmentally appropriate child care program. In addition, the teacher will communicate regularly and work in partnership with parents, administration and other staff to meet children's needs. The Teacher is responsible for understanding and complying with all NYS Office for Children and Family Services Day Care Center Regulations.

    The Teacher is responsible for the following:

    + Plans, implements and supervises a daily program that meets children's emotional, physical, intellectual and social needs and is consistent with center policies and philosophies.

    + Prepares a safe, clean, organized and aesthetically appealing environment that supports children's growth, independence and learning.

    + Gears program to meet individual children's interests, special needs and talents.

    + Attends to children's physical, hygienic and medical needs.

    + Establishes and maintains professional communication with parents regarding their children's care and learning and informs the Director of any concerns.

    + Understands that he/she is a mandated reporter of suspected child abuse and follows all associated center protocol.

    + Maintains accurate and complete paperwork, records and files as required.

    + Trains, collaborates with and supervises Assistant Teachers, substitutes and volunteers.

    + Respects and maintains the confidentiality of children, parents, staff and the center.

    Job Requirements:

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    + Associate's degree in Early Childhood, Child Development or related field, OR;

    + High School diploma, and at least 9 college credits in Early Childhood, and minimum 2 years related experience caring for children.

    + Knowledge of developmentally appropriate practices and developmental levels of children.

    + Knowledge of teaching methods and observation techniques, proper health, safety, and sanitation techniques and regulations.

    This is a part-time Research Foundation position.
