Bard Manufacturing Company, Inc., a leader in the HVAC industry, has an opening for an Engineering Manager, New Product Development at our corporate office in Bryan, OH.

Scope and Responsibilities:
The Engineering Manager will lead New Product Development (NPD) initiatives for HVAC Single Package Vertical units (SPVU). This role blends technical excellence, strategic leadership, and process-driven management to drive the conception, design, and development of market-leading SPVU products. As the Engineering Manager for NPD, the role is instrumental in planning, executing and delivering new products.
Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
+ Lead NPD Projects: Direct and manage the end-to-end process of new product development for SPVU HVAC systems, from initial concept and feasibility through design, testing, validation, and product launch.
+ Gate Review Process: Coordinate the NPD gate review process, ensuring that each project phase meets deliverables, schedule, cost, and performance milestones before progressing to the next stage. Facilitate cross-functional gate review meetings and ensure all documentation and deliverables are in place.
+ Team Leadership: Lead a diverse engineering team comprised of mechanical, electrical and controls engineers. Foster a collaborative, high-performing environment that values innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement.
+ Technical Oversight: Provide technical direction for product design, system integration, component selection to ensure robust and compliant products. Oversee the establishment of engineering best practices, design standards, and product validation protocols.
+ Stakeholder Collaboration: Collaborate closely with Product Management, Sales & Marketing, Supply Chain, Production, and Quality teams to align NPD objectives with business strategy and customer requirements. Serve as the technical point of contact for key internal and external stakeholders.
+ Project Management: Coordinate development of detailed project plans, allocate resources, manage product costs, and report on progress against key performance indicators (KPIs). Proactively identify and mitigate project risks to ensure timely and successful product launches.
+ Continuous Improvement: Drive the evolution and optimization of the NPD process, leveraging lessons learned and best practices to enhance efficiency, quality, and market responsiveness.
+ Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all product designs meet industry standards and regulatory requirements, including safety, energy efficiency, and environmental regulations specific to SPVU applications.
+ Talent Development: Foster a culture of learning and technical excellence through coaching, performance feedback, and career development opportunities for engineering team members.
Required Experience:
The successful candidate will possess the following skills/abilities:
+ Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or related discipline) from an accredited institution. Advanced degree (MS) is preferred.
+ Minimum of 15 years’ experience in engineering, with at least 5 years in a leadership or managerial role focused on new product development within the HVAC, appliance, or related industries.
+ Demonstrated expertise in the NPD process, including hands-on experience with stage-gate or similar project management methodologies.
+ Proven track record of successfully leading cross-functional and diverse engineering teams.
+ In-depth knowledge of HVAC systems, particularly package or roof top units, variable speed systems, smart controls, IoT-enabled systems including design, manufacturing, and testing requirements.
+ Strong understanding of relevant industry standards, codes, and compliance requirements (e.g., ASHRAE, UL, AHRI, IECC, DOE).
+ Exceptional communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills.
+ Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously, meeting timelines and budget constraints.
+ Proficiency with engineering design and project management tools (e.g., CAD, MS Project, Office 365, SMART SHEETS).
