Job Title:

Supplier Quality Internship

Job Description:

Summary:

The Supplier Quality Engineer Intern will gain exposure and experience in a global procurement organization supporting current and future programs. In this role the intern will work closely with suppliers to ensure components and their manufacturing processes meet our required standards.

Responsibilities:

+ Offers support as a liaison between the plant community, Purchasing, Engineering, the rest of Operations, and suppliers to contain, identify, and resolve supplier quality issues and to provide technical support.

+ Coordinates containment activities to minimize supplied part quality impact to the plants.

+ Provides, as needed, support for formal 8D containment, root cause, and corrective action documentation.

+ Coordinates supplier scheduling of formal 8D report outs either at Allison or via teleconference. (Note: 8D is a standard automotive industry problem solving methodology)

+ Supports investigation of supplier quality problems and coordinates implementation of effective and timely resolutions.

+ Assist with supplier selection processes.

+ Assist with Supplier audits

+ Support part qualification processes

Education Requirement:

+ College undergraduate or graduate status with 1-3 years at an accredited college or university, pursuing an academic field of study related to Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial Engineering, Technology or equivalent.

Required Experience:

+ Strong oral and written communication skills are required.

+ Good interpersonal skills to work effectively with others.

+ Analytical ability to solve complex problems.
