    Nurse Practitioner, General Surgery

    Key Responsibilities:

    + Working with the 24/7 NP covered general surgery service including: solid organ transplant, general surgery, CAIR, colorectal, EAT, bariatric and trauma as well as ICU consults on the Main campus.

    + Clinical leadership, assessment and collaborative management of inpatient surgical patients aged newborn to young adult. Includes: interpretation of diagnostic tests, performance of therapeutic procedures, quality improvement initiatives and clinical research activities.

    + Coordinating direct admission, timely discharge planning, consultations and participating in patient/family education in collaboration with the healthcare team.

    + Working 40 hours per week: 12-hour shifts, 40 hours/week (average), split evenly between day/night shifts, every 4th night weekend with the opportunity to advance weekend requirements over time.

    + This position is eligible to participate in the hospital new graduate 1 year APP fellowship.

    Minimum Qualifications

    Education:

    + Master’s Degree in Nursing

    Experience:

    + Will give preference to those with at least 1 year of current Pediatric Nurse Practitioner experience, will consider new-grad and newer NPs with pediatric RN experience, BCH experience strongly preferred.

    + Excellent organizational, communication, and computer skills required.

    Licensure/ Certifications:

    + A current license from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts to practice as an Advanced Practice Nurse certification as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner PNP

    **Sign-on bonus of $5,000.00 for fulltime (40 hours) NP hires (who have not worked at BCH in the past 2 years.)
