    State Hospital South (SHS) is seeking a temporary part time Storekeeper to join our team. The Storekeeper position is responsible for managing the storage and distribution of supplies, equipment, and other inventory items. Key duties include receiving deliveries, checking for accuracy and quality, organizing stock in storage areas, maintaining inventory records, and ensuring timely issuance of items to various hospital departments. The role also involves coordinating with procurement and maintaining compliance with hospital and safety regulations. Attention to detail and good organizational skills are essential for ensuring the hospital runs smoothly and remains well-supplied.

     

    State Hospital South was established in 1886 and is in beautiful Southeast Idaho, an area best known for Oregon Trail and Native American history, amazing fly fishing, towering mountain peaks with abundant wildlife and awe-inspiring geological sites. State Hospital South inBlackfootprovides psychiatric inpatient treatment and skilled nursing care for Idaho’s adult citizens with the most serious and persistent mental illnesses. The hospital works in partnership with families and communities to enable clients to return to community living. State Hospital South includes 110 psychiatric adult beds and 42 skilled nursing beds. It also maintains a statewide program to restore the competency of criminal justice patients.

     

    This position is not eligible for telework.

     

    Temporary positions are limited to working 1,385 hours in a 12-month period for any one state agency. Employees are eligible for benefits if they work twenty (20) hours or more per week and the term of employment is expected to exceed five (5) continuous months.

     

    Any applicant offered employment in this position at the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare will be required to complete a criminal history background investigation. Employment is dependent upon satisfactory results of the investigation.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    You must possess all the minimum qualifications below to pass the exam for this position.     + Experience storing, issuing, shipping and receiving materials and supplies. Typically gained by at least 6 months of work experience in a retail or receiving environment.

    + Experience applying purchasing procedures; applying inventory control methods. Typically gained by approximately 6 months of experience performing inventory control of material and equipment such as office supplies, furniture, computers and copiers.

    + Experience operating material handling equipment. Typically gained by some experience using material handling equipment such as hand trucks, dollies or pallet jacks on an occasional basis.

    + Experience entering and retrieving data using a computerized records system. Typically gained by approximately 6 months of experience accessing, entering, correcting or changing information on a computer.

    + Some knowledge of safety procedures for handling hazardous materials.Typically gained by previous work experience.
