    Role Overview:

    Department: Nursing

    Floors M5, M12, M14 - Main Campus 1275 York Ave, New York, NY 10065

    *All units are separate assignments with different Volunteer Supervisors, but under the same volunteer intervention pilot program against falls.

    Key Qualifications:

    Be sure to review the assignment description and scheduling needs below carefully.

    Shifts** **available:

    Tuesday from 1-5pm

     

    Wednesday from 1-5pm

     

    Thursday from 9am-1pm and 1pm-5pm

     

    Friday from 9am-1pm and 1pm-5pm

    Assignment Description:

    + Respond to bed alarms (average of 15-25 alarms on at a time): turn off false alarms and reset bed alarms as well as stay with patient until care team can arrive

    + Proactively Round Unit: ensure call light/bedside table/cell phone within reach

    + Provide Non-Clinical Needs – water, menus, blankets, etc.

    + Assist in patient transport/discharge

    + Competencies: teamwork & communication

    Qualifications:

    + Must be 18 years old or older.

    + Willing to commit to a weekly 3-hour shift for a **minimum of 6 months** . Volunteers are expected to be dependable in attending their scheduled shifts.

    + If a former or current MSK patient, must be out of active treatment for at least one year.

    Onboarding Requirements: takes 4 -** **6 weeks** **on average

    + If selected, complete a virtual interview. The selection process is based on scheduling needs and applicant qualifications.

    + Reference check: 2-3 references

    + Background check & drug screen (*18 years and older)

    + Medical Clearance: COVID-19, flu and other immunizations are mandatory for volunteers, no exceptions. Medical Clearance is at the expense of the applicant.

     

    _If a candidate_ _fails to_ _follow up or complete the above requirements after_ _30 days_ _, the application may be rejected._

     

    **Please note that the Volunteer Department does not oversee internships, educational programs, or shadowing opportunities.** Our program provides long-term opportunities supporting patients and staff.

    + Must be flexible and willing to support various areas based on daily needs, as directed by Volunteer Supervisor

     

    Pay Range: $0.00 - $10,000,000.00

    FSLA Status: Non-Exempt
