Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Sales & Use Tax Accountant to join our team on a contract basis for a 2-3 month project in Arvada, Colorado. In this role, you will play a key part in assisting leadership with sales tax audits, including analyzing historical data spanning multiple years, reconstructing returns, and preparing necessary documentation. Additionally, you will support the team by managing overflow duties and ensuring compliance with tax regulations.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct thorough reviews and analyses of historical sales tax records spanning over five years, including reconciling data from different systems and personnel.

• Recreate and prepare sales tax returns, ensuring accuracy and completeness for audit purposes.

• Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual tax filings, adhering to all deadlines and regulatory requirements.

• Research state-specific sales and use tax laws and regulations to ensure proper tax classification and compliance.

• Load and maintain tax exemption documentation within dual systems, ensuring readiness for audits.

• Respond promptly to inquiries from internal and external stakeholders regarding sales tax matters.

• Assist with sales and use tax audits, providing detailed documentation and support as needed.

• Collaborate with other accounting functions, such as accounts receivable and invoicing, to maintain overall financial accuracy.

• Prepare and deliver detailed reports and reconciliations to management in a timely manner.

• Uphold company policies and procedures, including safety guidelines, while maintaining and protecting assigned assets. Requirements • Extensive experience with sales and use tax preparation, compliance, and audits.

• Familiarity with researching tax laws and regulations across multiple states.

• Proficiency in preparing individual and corporate tax returns.

• Strong skills in tax reconciliation and analysis, with attention to detail.

• Ability to manage and organize exemption documentation in dual systems.

• Knowledge of ERP systems and experience working across varied platforms.

• Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with clients, team members, and leadership.

• Availability to work flexible hours to support business needs across different time zones.
