    The University of Vermont’s Department of Psychological Science in the College of Arts & Sciences invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track faculty member at the rank of Assistant Professor to join our nationally recognized and award-winning faculty. The position will start in Fall of 2026.

     

    Applicants must have a PhD in clinical psychology from an American Psychological Association-accredited program. Applicants should be license-eligible. Scholarship area is open. We are especially interested in applicants who have the potential to connect with another of our focus areas of psychological science: biobehavioral (behavioral neuroscience), developmental, or social psychology.

     

    Applicants must have a strong record of publications, potential for extramural funding, and excellent teaching and mentoring skills. The successful candidate will develop a vigorous research program and actively seek extramural funding, teach undergraduate and graduate courses, and advise undergraduate and graduate students, in addition to professional contributions and service. Interest in interdisciplinary approaches and/or collaboration is desirable.

    Qualifications:

    The successful candidate should:

    + Hold a Ph.D. degree in Clinical Psychology from an APA -accredited program, have completed an APA -accredited internship, and be license-eligible.

    + Show promise toward developing competitively funded research program;

    + Have the capacity to teach undergraduate and graduate courses;

    + Be able to successfully mentor and advise undergraduate and graduate students, in addition to professional contributions and service.

    Responsibilities:

    The successful candidate will assume a range of responsibilities that include:

    + Maintaining an active research agenda, securing external funding, and publishing in peer-reviewed journals;

    + Teaching and advising in the department’s undergraduate and graduate programs;

    + Collaborating with Department of Psychological Science faculty and staff in departmental governance, program development, scholarship, and service;

    + Serving as an active member of relevant scholarly societies and/or professional associations;

    + Engaging in service and outreach activities at the college, university, regional, state, national and international levels.
