    The Associate Head Coach reports to the Director of Tennis and is responsible for coaching of all phases of the Men’s Tennis program and assisting the Women’s Tennis program in accordance with NCAA Division I rules and philosophies.

    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Employment duties will include, but not be limited to:

    + Responsible for all administrative and organizational aspects of coaching their assigned programs

    + Develop a program for players' development during the season, throughout off-season and summer workouts; teach the technical skills required to play intercollegiate tennis; and counsel players regarding academic, personal, and team goals

    + Directly supervise men’s tennis student-athletes

    + Operate within the guidelines of an NCAA Division I program and within the mission of the University and its philosophy of intercollegiate athletics

    + Guide and actively encourage student-athletes to succeed academically, acquire a degree, and represent the University with the highest integrity

    + Assist in the development and administration of all match schedules, practices, and workouts

    + Responsible for the recruitment of student-athletes, adhering to NCAA, Conference, and University regulations regarding recruiting, admission standards and eligibility, monitoring student-athlete academic progress, and assisting in the establishment of effective media relations

    + Play a role, as assigned by the Director of Tennis, in fundraising activities and serve as a representative of the University to the outside community when appropriate

    + Oversee and direct all aspects of coaching during practice and matches for the assigned programs

    + In cooperation with the Associate AD for Compliance, and Associate AD for Academics, uphold all University academic policies and assist, when appropriate, in counseling student-athletes relative to academic success, progress, and eligibility

    + Assist in coaching and supervision of the women’s tennis program

    + Lead assigned student-athletes in a coordinated and planned program of practices and competition, with a concern for the players' health and welfare, physical and psychological preparation

    + Enforce University and athletic department policies and regulation

    + Perform other site and position specific functions as assigned by supervisor

    Required Skills

    + Effective verbal and written communication

    + Computer skills (including Microsoft Suite)

    + Experience with day-to-day administrative and operational responsibilities of leading and supervising a tennis program; including but not limited to implementation of running and workout programs, budget management, professional development, NCAA rules and regulations, organization skills, and supporting the educational goals and ideals of the members of the tennis program

    + Ability to work effectively with student-athletes, alumni, program boosters, the public, and administrative staff

    + Ability to recruit, coach, and teach a wide skill range of athletes the fundamentals and theories of the tennis program

    + Knowledge of NCAA Division I rules and regulations; and a commitment to adhere to all policies, rules and regulations of the NCAA and ASUN as required

    Required Experience

    + Bachelor's degree required with a minimum of one (1) year of coaching experience at the collegiate level or higher, or five (5) years of related experience

    + A commitment to the academic goals of Stetson University

     

    Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record as determined by the University’s auto insurance carrier.

    Ideal Candidate Qualifications:

    + Master's degree preferred

    + Demonstrated success in recruiting and developing student-athletes.

    + Passionate about building team culture, academic success, and athletic excellence.

     

    Work Environment: Duties require: both indoor and outdoor work; direct exposure to prevailing weather, extreme heat, humidity, and extreme cold; physical ability to endure physically strenuous work-outs and physical exercise on a daily basis, including standing and/or walking for long periods, bending, stooping, lifting; manual dexterity; lifting of up to thirty pounds; ability to work hours outside the normal University schedule; physical ability to travel; perceptual demands for sound, form, depth. de the normal University schedule; physical ability to travel; perceptual demands for sound, form, depth.
