    Summary Corrections professionals who foster a humane and secure environment and ensure public safety by preparing individuals for successful reentry into our communities. Responsibilities Performs highly complex managerial work administering the daily operations and activities for the Program Review Branch, utilizing the Generally Accepted Government Accounting Standards (GAGAS) or other auditing standards adopted by the Federal Bureau of Prisons. Manages the activities of staff auditors, ensuring the collection, analysis, interpretation, and documentation of information is sufficient to support audit results through reviewing and approving audit programs, priorities, scope, and methodologies for accomplishment of audit objectives; oversees audit activities to ensure all audit program steps are completed as planned; and monitors performance of audit activities to ensure accuracy of results in conformance with professional auditing standards. Evaluates the results of audit findings and management responses to recommendations, timing, and extent of follow-up activities; oversees follow-up activities to ascertain if appropriate action is taken on reported audit findings; conducts quality assurance reviews of completed audits to ensure compliance with applicable standards; evaluates quality assurance reviews to identify potential improvements in operations; and identifies staff development needs and prepares and presents training to improve staff performance in conformance with professional auditing standards. Develops training materials and presents training to internal auditors, field staff, and agency leadership. Oversee the development of technical data, estimates, statistics, suggestion, and other information useful to higher level managers in determining which goals and objectives to emphasize. Additional information about CTAP eligibility is at: Click Here Qualifications To be considered for the position, you must meet the following qualification requirements: Basic Requirement: Degree: auditing; or a degree in a related field such as business administration, finance, public administration or accounting. OR Combination of education and experience: at least 4 years of experience in Performance Auditing, or an equivalent combination of performance auditing experience, college-level education, and training that provided professional auditing knowledge. The applicant's background must also include one of the following: A certificate as a Certified Internal Auditor or a Certified Public Accountant, obtained through written examination; or Completion of the requirements for a degree that included substantial course work in auditing or accounting, e.g., 15 semester hours. AND In addition to the basic requirements, applicants must also have: Education: There is no substitution of education for specialized experience for this position. Experience: You must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and complexity to the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. To be creditable, this experience must have equipped the applicant with the particular qualifications to perform successfully the duties of the position, and must typically be in or related to the position to be filled. Some examples of this qualifying experience are: Experience utilizing the theories, practices, methods, and techniques of auditing sufficient to plan, conduct, and lead difficult assignments involving interfaces and inter-relationships between and among programs, functions, policies, and various issues. Experience planning and conducting technical, complex and comprehensive audits demonstrating an expert knowledge of audit standards. Experience applying government auditing standards, discern key issues, and draw appropriate conclusions. If applicable, credit will be given for paid and unpaid experience. Additional Information This position IS NOT included in the bargaining unit. The representative rate for this position is $156,737 per annum ($75.10 per hour). Special Conditions of Employment Section: Initial appointment to a supervisory/managerial position requires a one-year probationary period. The incumbent is subject to geographic relocation to meet the needs of the agency. Appointment is subject to satisfactory completion of a urinalysis, physical, and background investigation.
