Position Scope:
We are seeking an experienced Senior Accountant with a strong background in skilled nursing facility (SNF) accounting to join our finance team. This role is responsible for overseeing the accuracy, compliance, and timeliness of financial reporting while providing insight to support operational decision-making. The ideal candidate will have in-depth knowledge of healthcare accounting, particularly within the skilled nursing sector, including Medicare/Medicaid reimbursement, cost reporting, and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
+ Prepare, review, and analyze monthly financial statements for assigned skilled nursing facilities.
+ Reconcile balance sheet accounts, including cash, AR, AP, fixed assets, and accruals.
+ Ensure compliance with GAAP, CMS guidelines, and other healthcare industry accounting standards.
+ Support Medicare and Medicaid cost report preparation and audits.
+ Analyze operational results, highlighting variances and trends for management review.
+ Maintain and monitor general ledger activity, including journal entries and month-end close processes.
+ Collaborate with facility administrators and department heads to ensure accurate financial information and budget adherence.
+ Assist with annual audits, tax filings, and other external reporting requirements.
+ Provide guidance and mentorship to junior accounting staff.
+ Support special projects, process improvements, and system implementations as needed.
Qualifications:
+ Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field or equivalent experience.
+ Minimum 3+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 1-3 years in a skilled nursing or long-term care environment.
+ Strong knowledge of Medicare/Medicaid reimbursement principles and healthcare cost reporting.
+ Proficient in accounting software (e.g., PointClickCare, MatrixCare, or similar) and Microsoft Excel.
+ Exceptional attention to detail, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
+ Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
+ Strong interpersonal and communication skills for cross-department collaboration.
HIPAA Compliance:
Demonstrates knowledge of and adheres to LCCN policies and HIPAA regulations governing the confidentiality and security of protected health information for both manual and electronic resident records, charts, information and other confidential information including (but not limited to) employee records, computer access codes and passwords.
