    Description

    We are looking for a dedicated Patient Access Specialist to join our team in Rochester, Michigan. This part-time position offers an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-paced healthcare environment, supporting both the Labor and Delivery and Emergency Department units. Ideal candidates will excel in handling inbound calls, managing electronic health record systems, and ensuring smooth patient access processes.

    Responsibilities:

    • Handle inbound calls with professionalism, addressing patient inquiries and concerns promptly.

    • Manage patient access workflows within electronic health record systems, including Epic, Allscripts, and Cerner.

    • Collaborate with healthcare teams to ensure seamless support for Labor and Delivery and Emergency Department operations.

    • Process authorizations and benefits verifications for patients efficiently and accurately.

    • Assist with billing functions and ensure compliance with healthcare regulations during patient interactions.

    • Cross-train in departmental procedures to provide flexible support across various units.

    • Maintain organized records and documentation within EHR systems to ensure consistency and accuracy.

    • Address scheduling needs, including weekend and holiday rotations, to support 24/7 departmental operations.

    • Communicate effectively with patients and staff, fostering a welcoming and supportive environment.

    • Contribute to the improvement of patient access protocols and workflows.

     

    Requirements • Proficiency in using electronic health record systems such as Epic, Allscripts, and Cerner.

     

    • Experience in handling inbound calls and providing excellent customer service in a healthcare setting.

    • Knowledge of authorizations, benefits, and billing functions within the healthcare industry.

    • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and support multiple departments.

    • Strong organizational skills with an emphasis on maintaining accurate documentation.

    • Flexibility to work rotating shifts, including weekends and holidays.

    • Effective communication skills to liaise with patients and healthcare teams.
