    Description

    A rapidly growing start-up based in Jersey City, NJ is currently seeking a Senior Accountant to partner with their Controller on a contract to full-time basis. The Senior Accountant will have experience driving monthly close activities, preparing journal entries, reconciling accounts, handling fixed assets, and supporting audit preparation requirements. The ideal Senior Accountant will have experience in small to mid-sized companies where they were involved with formalizing accounting processes, finding ways to enhance operations, and doing some monthly variance analysis. Proficiency with QuickBooks and Google Sheets (Excel) is strongly preferred.

    Requirements • Proven experience in optimizing month-end close processes and performing timely reconciliations.

     

    • Strong knowledge of fixed asset management and inventory accounting, including process refinement.

    • Advanced proficiency in QuickBooks Online, Excel, and other accounting tools; familiarity with Activate and Google Sheets is a plus.

    • Ability to prepare detailed audit reports and ensure compliance with financial regulations.

    • Excellent analytical skills for conducting variance analysis and supporting FP& A activities.

    • Strong collaboration and communication abilities to work effectively across teams.

    • Detail-oriented mindset with a commitment to accuracy and continuous improvement.

    • Experience managing general ledger activities, journal entries, and bank reconciliations.
