    Overview:

    St. Mary’s Healthcare is actively seeking a Board Certified / Board Eligible Nocturnist Hospitalist to join our expanding inpatient medicine team in Amsterdam, NY. In this full-time, hospital-employed position, you will provide comprehensive care to hospitalized patients during the overnight shift, collaborating with a dedicated group of physicians, APPs, and specialists.     Position Highlights:

    + Full-time, hospital-employed position

    + Overnight schedule with dedicated focus on admissions, cross-coverage, and ICU patients

    + Manage 5–7 admissions per shift with an average census in the high 30s to low 40s

    + 8-bed ICU with opportunities for critical care involvement

    + Procedures required with support from a skilled hospitalist and specialty team

    + Fully integrated inpatient/outpatient EMR: Meditech Expanse

    Responsibilities:

    + Provide high-quality inpatient care to a diverse patient population during overnight shifts

    + Perform essential inpatient procedures and ensure adherence to safety protocols

    + Manage ICU patients in collaboration with hospitalists, intensivists, and consultants

    + Respond promptly to acute changes in patient status with decisive clinical judgment

    + Admit and cross-cover patients, ensuring smooth transitions of care to the day team

    + Document all care provided in the EMR system accurately and in a timely manner

    + Collaborate effectively with nursing staff, APPs, and other physicians to deliver coordinated, patient-centered care

    + Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and a culture of clinical excellence

    Qualifications:

    Required Credentials - Board Certified/Board Eligible Internal Medicine or Family Medicine Physician licensed (or eligible for licensure) in the State of New York

     

    Preferred Experience - ACLS certification; hospital medicine and ICU coverage experience preferred but not required

     

    Education - MD or DO from an accredited medical school; completion of an accredited residency program

     

    Skills - Strong clinical judgment, efficient decision-making, and effective communication in a fast-paced inpatient setting.

    Compensation & Benefits:

    + Base Salary Range - $315,000 – $342,000 (commensurate with experience).

    Complexity of Work:

    This role requires advanced clinical expertise, strong procedural skills, and the ability to manage acutely ill patients with minimal supervision during overnight shifts. The ideal candidate will demonstrate critical thinking, adaptability, and a commitment to delivering safe, high-quality care in a collaborative hospital environment.

    Personal Protective Equipment:

    Adherence to Standard Precautions and utilization of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) are mandatory to ensure the safety of both patients and staff.
