    EXPERIENCED MACHINIST 2nd Shift

This is a 2nd shift position, hours of 3:15pm to 11:15pm.

     

    Principal Activities

     

    + Be able to operate boring lathes, lathes, grinders, mills cutting tools, and other necessary equipment, hoist-operated cranes and other lifting equipment.

    + Be able to follow verbal and written instructions; read and work to drawings, setup cards, charts and tables with or without job tag instructions.

    + Recognize and immediately correct, without assistance, machine difficulties and errors, or cause to have corrected, if fault is due to the machine, tools, equipment or material.

    + Perform above duties without assistance except on unusual or difficult jobs only. Consistently produce work of proper quality and of properly required quantity.

    + Use precision measuring instruments such as air mikes, micrometers, dial indicators, templates, feelers, gages of all types, form masters, scale, calipers, and electronic measuring equipment to maintain dimensions and tolerances as required.

    + Keep working area, machines, and equipment in a clean, orderly condition. Safeguard working area as necessary. Wear all safety equipment that is necessary on the job.

    + The ability to use all machining equipment. Tools include all basic cutting tools, boring heads, parallels, vee blocks, hand tools, and other necessary equipment. Hoist-operated cranes and other lifting equipment. Torque wrenches, hand and power grinders, files and sanding disc. etc.

    + Work from verbal or written instructions, with or without job tag instructions; read and work from blueprints, charts sketches, process specifications and masters. Perform all duties without assistance, except on unusual or difficult jobs. Consistently produce work of proper quality and of proper required quantity.

    CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

    Knowledge Skills & Abilities

     

    + Use of mathematics together with the use of complicated drawings, specifications, charts, tables..

    + Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

    + Ability to define routine problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

    + Ability to interpret basic technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form. Ability to read and understand blueprints.

    + While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The associate is occasionally required to sit, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, and crouch. The associate must regularly lift and/or move up to 30 pounds. The associate may, in rare occasions lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

     

    Education & Experience

     

    + High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required.

    + Minimum of 2 years of machining experience required
