Responsibilities:
GENERAL SUMMARY
The International Networks, Volunteers & Programs Director is responsible for strategic planning, creation, implementation, and maintenance of a widespread international alumni engagement program that fosters strong relationships and broad support from alumni while expanding volunteer leadership and creating a pipeline for future support. With an emphasis on broad alumni outreach, this leadership level role represents the Alumni Relations and Constituent Engagement international engagement strategy in collaboration with academic units in Advancement and all schools at the University and with campus partners. The director oversees the identification, recruitment, cultivation, and stewardship of volunteers and develops, plans, and implements events and digital engagement. They track and analyze event data, identifying outreach opportunities and progress towards program goals. Extensive international travel is required for this role.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
International Programming Oversight
+ Create annual strategic plan and manage a budget for international engagement by outlining priority cities, developing engagement initiatives and defining and evaluating metrics.
+ Oversee the international volunteer network program with over 75 volunteers, focused on overall engagement (go, give, help, connect).
+ Foster purposeful collaboration across Advancement, school, unit and University partners to maximize impact of existing alumni programs and resources.
+ Track, report and analyze attendance, budget expenditures, progress towards program goals and metrics for regional programs through reporting functionality of OASIS and internal tracking systems.
+ Develops staff collaboration across Advancement teams and the community to ensure maximum performance.
+ Oversight and strategic management of the International Engagement strategy including relationships with Office of Global Engagement
+ Manage and oversee the creation of targeted communication materials for International Network programs and activity including newsletters, emails, social media updates, giveaways and website content.
+ Serve as the representative of the Advancement office at regionally based events planned by the regional team and beyond to cultivate and steward prospects, University trustees, faculty and volunteers.
Volunteer Management & Constituent Engagement
+ Manage the overall volunteer strategy for the International Network Leadership Councils including level of support, timelines and priority cities based on number of alumni and activity.
+ Supervise and cultivate leadership volunteers including Board of Trustee Members, Global Leadership Council and National Council Members and Regional Leaders customizing outreach based on individual needs and in collaboration with internal advancement partners.
+ Developdeveloping pathways for international volunteers in partnership with Alumni Relations and Advancement colleagues.
+ Actively cultivate relationships with international alumni through personalized outreach, virtual events, regional gatherings, individual in-person and virtual visits and tailored communication channels.
+ Recruit, train, manage and steward international volunteers
+ Meet with potential and current alumni volunteers and donors (50 measured annually.)
Event and Program Management
+ Plan and manage both volunteer and Advancement led events
+ Analyze past events, regional trends and highlights and work with volunteers and internal partners to develop programs for specified region(s).
+ Manage execution of all logistical programming requirements and marketing initiatives.
+ Coordinate visits and events surrounding existing faculty and University leadership international travel.
+ Support and guide Network members in volunteer led events.
+ Travel to events for on-site management and stewardship of key volunteer leaders as appropriate.
Strategic Partnerships
+ Develop and maintain relationships with key campus partners including International Services Office, Office of Global Engagement, Greene Career Center, Benet Career Management Center, Parent & Family Relations, etc.
+ Collaborate with admissions teams to leverage the international alumni network for student recruitment efforts, connecting prospective students with alumni network volunteers.
+ Represent the Office of Alumni Relations and Constituent Engagement on campus committees and at campus events.
+ Serve as a content expert for internal partners on international engagement.
Marketing and Communications
General
+ Oversee marketing strategy for all international events, websites, collateral promoting regional networks.
+ Oversight of giveaways.
International
+ Review and modify all marketing and educational materials to ensure web pages, printed communications and collateral, e-mail messages, and other promotional vehicles for engagement internationally are relevant, culturally representative and effective.
+ For countries that have social media presence, in concert with volunteers and campus partnerships with host accounts develop and oversee social media strategies utilizing platforms unique to each country to engage constituents in region and our office’s programs, volunteer opportunities, and services
Professional Development and General Support
+ Continued training, professional development and gaining of overall University knowledge through regular meetings with unit-based colleagues, faculty, and staff; training on UR Advancement protocols and procedures; technical training on Advancement’s prospect management system; and honing of professional skills through seminars, conferences, trainings, and individual mentoring.
+ Benchmark and develop relationships with other institutions on best practices alumni and constituent engagement
+ Support of large-scale Advancement programs including our annual Meliora Weekend and biennial Volunteers in Partnership Leadership Conference and international admissions and University events.
+ Other tasks and duties as assigned by the Assistant Vice President of Volunteer Engagement, Networks and Programs.

MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
+ Bachelor’s degree Required
+ Master’s degree Preferred
+ A minimum of 7 years of related work experience
+ Preferably in advancement or higher education
+ or equivalent combination of education and experience Required
