The Impact You’ll Make in this Role

As a(n) Specialist Facilities Structural Engineer, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:

+ Providing code compliant structural design solutions for a wide variety of new and existing industrial structures including buildings and process support structures in steel, concrete and masonry

+ Overseeing and collaborating with outside consultants for certain projects, insuring that all designs meet all applicable codes, including internal design standards

+ Collaborating with contractors and vendors to determine effective design solutions for project specific constructability concerns and challenges

+ Responding to structural emergencies at our plants that require forensic-type investigation along with follow-up repair recommendations

+ Interacting and communicating effectively with multiple discipline teams including 3M plant personnel, Division customers, consultants, suppliers and contractors

Your Skills and Expertise

To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:

+ Bachelor’s degree or higher in Civil or Structural Engineering (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution

+ Seven (7) years of experience in Structural Engineering related design and construction to support industrial facilities and processes in a private, public, government or military environment

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

+ 10+ years experience in Structural Engineering related design and construction to support industrial facilities and processes

+ Registered as a Professional Engineer

+ Strong experience in engineering of a wide variety of structural systems for industrial facilities, both existing and new

+ Experience with structural forensic investigation including on-site assessment, analysis and repair solutions

+ Experience in collaborating with a geotechnical engineer to determine the best foundation solution for a particular project

+ Experience in the design and construction of a wide variety of foundation types and technologies

+ Proficient communication and documentation skills

Work location:

+ **3M Center** **in St. Paul, MN**

Travel: May include up to 20% domestic

Applicable to US Applicants Only:The expected compensation range for this position is $141,150 - $172,517, which includes base pay plus variable incentive pay, if eligible. This range represents a good faith estimate for this position. The specific compensation offered to a candidate may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s relevant knowledge, training, skills, work location, and/or experience.
