    Your Role at a Glance

     

    As a CMA at HVI, you’ll be at the heart of the patient experience—supporting cardiologists, ensuring accurate clinical documentation, and creating an atmosphere where every patient feels heard and cared for.

     

    What You’ll Do 1. Patient-Facing Clinical Excellence

     

    + Greet and prepare patients for cardiac consultations, stress tests, follow-ups, and procedures.

    + Record vital signs, obtain ECGs, assist with stress tests, and document patient history.

    + Support cardiovascular providers during exams and interventions with clinical accuracy and empathy.

    2. Clinical & Lab Support

    + Perform phlebotomy, point-of-care testing, and specimen collection with precision and care.

    + Ensure timely coordination of diagnostic test results and follow-up instructions.

    + Maintain regulatory and HIPAA-compliant handling of all lab and patient data.

    3. Heart of the Experience

    + Serve as a key point of contact for patients, addressing questions and reducing anxiety through clear, compassionate communication.

    + Support seamless care transitions, patient education, and coordination of referrals or procedures.

    4. Team Collaboration & Innovation

    + Work hand-in-hand with cardiologists, nurses, and imaging techs in a dynamic, team-based environment.

    Who We’re Looking For

    + Certified Medical Assistant credential (AAMA, AMT, or equivalent)

    + Prior experience in a HVI setting is strongly preferred

    Qualifications

    + Education: High School Diploma or GED, required.

    + Must be a graduate from an accredited Medical Assistant Program; Medical Assistant curriculum must include pharmacology and medication administration. Certification/registry must be obtained by the last day of the sixth month of hire, and an education agreement signed. Certification/registry accepted: CMA with the American Associate of Medical Assistants (AAMA), CCMA with the National Health Career Association (NHA), RMA with the American Medical Technologists (AMT), American Registry of Medical Assistants (NHCWA), National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT), National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP) American Allied Health (AAH), and RMA with the American Registry of Medical Assistants (ARMA). Alternative Work Experience (for eligibility to take NHA, ARMA, NHCWA, NCCT, NAHP or AMT exams, if not already certified or registered on hire): Applicant shall be employed as a supervised medical assistant for a minimum of one (1) year (NHA or NHCWA) within the last three (3) years, for a minimum of 2 years (NCCT, NAHP), for a minimum of 3 years (ARMA), for a minimum of 5 years (AMT) of the last 7 years (with no more than 2 of those years as an instructor in a post-secondary medical assistant program). Or graduate of an Accredited School of Professional Nursing. Experience must include both clinical (including medication administration) and administrative duties.

    + Experience: Previous work in a medical office, preferred.

    + Licensure/Certification: Current certification, or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire as CMA, RMA or CCMA; required.

    + Additional skills required: Ability to successfully complete generic and department specific skills validation and competency testing.
