HBC Management Services, Inc. is seeking experienced Federal Law Enforcement Security Training Instructor for Department Of Defense in Washington, DC area. The Security Training Instructor will be responsible for conducting training in the classroom as well as practical applications on the range, CPR/AED, etc. Skills in curriculum and course development to meet federal, state, and local requirements in DC, MD and VA highly desirable to as well as very specialized requirements set forth by our Customer. Responsibilities include, but not limited to developing training for new recruits and ensuring guard and personnel training file requirements are compliant to the contract while promoting a safe, fair, and positive work environment for our employees.
A Security Trainer-Instructor is responsible for educating individuals or teams on security protocols, procedures, and technologies. This role spans physical security, use of force, emergency response, firearms and regulatory compliance.
This is a part time/as needed position.
Key Responsibilities:
• Present DHS/FPS security training programs.
• Conduct range drills, simulations, and instruction on various courses of fire
• Train security personnel, initially and periodically on basic security subjects
• Evaluate trainee performance and provide feedback
• Update training materials, as required
• Ensure compliance with legal and industry standards
• Maintain detailed records of training activities and certifications.
Duties
+ Must have organizational skills to run day to day operations of training academy
+ Record keeping skills are critical
+ Must have experience/ability to develop lesson plans and curricula
+ Must be available to travel within the region.
Requirements
Security Clearance/Suitability:
• A Government security clearance/secret or above or ability to obtain a clearance
• A Government issued letter of suitability or ability to obtain suitability
Education & Certifications
• Associate’s degree in criminal justice, Security Management, or 5 years of experience and related certifications are desired.
• Minimum education is a High School Diploma or GED.
+ Be able to obtain the required security clearance or suitability
+ Associate’s degree in criminal justice, Security Management, or 5 years of experience and related certifications are desired
+ Minimum of two (2) years of successful experience in training (civilian community law enforcement, military service law enforcement or commercial/industrial security force service)
+ Must possess appropriate certifications to training in First Aid, CPR, AED, Defensive Tactics, Handcuffing, Expandable Baton, OC Spray and Firearms Instruction
+ Must be certified Instructor in Basic and Refresher Training by completing an approved and accredited Principles of Instruction course or similar training (e.g. NRA, Police Academy, state POST Academy, FLETC or military training course)
+ Certified as an approved and accredited Firearms Instructor (Range Official)
+ Certified First Aid/CPR/AED Instructor with the American Red Cross or American Heart Association
+ Minimum of two (2) years of training experience as a certified National Weapons Detection Training Program (NWDTP) Instructor (preferred)
+ Proficient with MS Office Suite with strong skills in PowerPoint and media presentations.
Certifications: - Must have Active all Instructor Certifications
• Certified American Red Cross CPR-FA-AED - instructor
• Certified Oleoresin Capsaicin OC– instructor
• Certified Expandable Baton – instructor
• Certified Defensive Tactics – instructor
• Certified Firearms (NRA, State, National) – instructor
• National Weapons Detection Training Program- instructor (desired)
• Certified in Security Supervision and Management -CSSM, is a plus
Licensing:
• Security Trainer’s License for Virginia is a plus.
• Security Trainer’s License for Maryland is a plus.
