Job Title: Children’s Mental Health Clinician – Per Diem (Chautauqua County)
Department: Children and Family Treatment and Support Services (CFTSS)
Position Summary
The Children’s Mental Health Clinician provides in-home and community-based services to Medicaid-enrolled youth ages 0–21 under the Medicaid State Plan Service Other Licensed Practitioner (OLP). Clinicians deliver trauma-informed assessments, evaluations, psychotherapy, and crisis interventions in a coordinated, comprehensive manner tailored to the unique needs of each child and family. Services are designed to help prevent the progression of behavioral health challenges through early identification and intervention and may be provided even when a behavioral health condition has not yet been diagnosed.

Compensation
+ $80.00 per service hour
+ $15.50 per hour for non-billable time
Hours/Schedule
Per Diem, flexible hours based on client availability (with evening hours required).
Professional Development Opportunities
Children’s Mental Health Clinicians receive ongoing professional development through mandatory in-service trainings, regular supervision, and opportunities to expand expertise in trauma-informed care, assessment, and psychotherapy.
Position Specific Duties/Responsibilities
+ Provide trauma-informed, individualized services based on child and family needs
+ Administer appropriate assessments and provide licensed evaluations as needed for diagnosis, treatment planning, and service identification
+ Develop culturally relevant, family-centered treatment plans that reflect the child’s goals and identity
+ Provide psychotherapy to address symptoms or functional limitations associated with behavioral health disorders
+ Deliver crisis response, including triage, intervention, and follow-up
+ Collaborate with community partners, service providers, and informal supports in a multidisciplinary team format
+ Maintain a working knowledge of community resources for linkage and referral
+ Document all services, progress notes, and plans in the electronic case record system in compliance with Medicaid and agency standards
+ Maintain confidentiality of client and family information
+ Attend case-related conferences and contribute to treatment planning
+ Participate in supervision, team meetings, and agency trainings
+ Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
+ Strong assessment, diagnostic, and treatment planning skills
+ Knowledge of trauma-informed and evidence-based therapeutic interventions
+ Ability to provide psychotherapy and crisis intervention to children, youth, and families
+ Knowledge of community resources and service coordination
+ Strong communication and collaboration skills within multidisciplinary teams
+ Ability to work effectively with families and youth from diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds
Qualifications
+ Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT or MFT-P), Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC or MHC-P), Licensed Creative Arts Therapist (LCAT), or Licensed Psychoanalyst (required)
+ Experience providing individual, family, or group psychotherapy to adolescents and families (preferred)
+ Experience working with substance use disorders and/or acute crisis intervention (preferred)
+ Valid driver’s license, adequate auto insurance, and compliance with agency driving policy
+ Ability to pass annual physical per agency health policy (Category 1 classification)
+ Compliance with agency safety standards and healthy work environment practices
