Responsibilities

This position serves as a primary source of communication with patients, insurance payers, patient support foundations, physician and clinic offices, Patient Financial Services, drug distributors, and manufacturers. This position assists patients with access to resources to lessen the impact of the specialty drug therapy socially and economically.

This position represents the Specialty Pharmacy during initial phone contact by providing patients, patient families, insurance providers, physicians and other providers, clinic and office staff with information pertaining to the filling, processing, reimbursement, payment, and assistance with the provision of specialty pharmaceuticals.

This position also handles the technical dispensing duties within the specialty pharmacy and provides support under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist, ensuring optimal pharmaceutical care.

Qualifications

We Require

This position requires one of the following: A minimum of 1 year previous experience as a pharmacy technician; OR 1 year previous experience in a specialty pharmacy or PBM environment; OR an Associate’s degree in lieu of previous experience. Otherwise, a high school diploma/GED in combination with experience is required. A Washington State **Pharmacy** Technician License and completion of an accredited Pharmacy Technician training program is required for this position. A National Certification (CPhT) is preferred.

Also required are:

a. A thorough knowledge of drugs and medical terminology;

b. Excellent computer skills;

c. demonstrated excellent customer services skills;

d. Strong, expert-level knowledge of insurance requirements as well as co-pay assistance programs for each specific drug and/or disease state;

e. Strong communication and interpersonal skills;

f. Comprehensive knowledge of third-party insurance plans and claims processing;

g. General knowledge of pharmacy benefit managers and the services they provide;

h. Operational knowledge of drug formularies, tiering, and co-pay concepts;

i. And strong organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

An Associate’s degree or equivalent (with prior pharm tech work experience) is preferred.

Pay Range

$31.64 - $41.85 /hour
