The Pathology Department is seeking a **_Molecular Diagnostics Technologist_** who, under the general supervision of the laboratory manager, performs a variety of both routine and complex clinical laboratory tests in accordance with established standards and procedures. These duties require a professional level of knowledge to properly execute and analyze results, especially where results are abnormal or atypical.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities
+ Perform a variety of both routine and complex clinical and/or research laboratory tests on different specimens, including but not limited to blood, bone marrow, and formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded specimens, in accordance with established standards and procedures.
+ Prepare and determine the suitability of reagents following defined formulas and procedures.
+ Document and report test results. Completes required logs and supporting documents.
+ Maintain and troubleshoot equipment, including routine repairs, and notifies service personnel when more complex problems occur.
+ Perform related general duties such as ordering supplies, general lab housekeeping, and maintaining safety records.
+ Participate in the training of new employees, students, and physicians in laboratory methodology.
+ Strictly comply with patient care and confidentiality policies, and HIPAA regulations.
+ Perform miscellaneous related duties as assigned.

+ Laboratory Troubleshooting and Technical Problem Solving - Developing
+ Reagent Preparation and Quality Control - Developing
+ The core technical skills listed are most essential; additional technical skills may be required based on specific division or department needs.
Minimum Qualifications
+ Bachelor's Degree in Biology, Chemistry, or related field.
+ One year's experience in a comparable laboratory performing relevant techniques.
+ Additional education may substitute for required experience, and additional related experience may substitute for required education beyond a high school diploma/graduation equivalent, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
Preferred Qualifications
+ Molecular Biology (MB) ASCP certification.

Role/Level/Range: ACRP/03/MC
Starting Salary Range: $48,000 - $84,100 Annually ($55,000 targeted; Commensurate w/exp.)
Employee group: Full Time
Schedule: Monday-Friday 8:30am-5:00pm
