ABOUT YOU
As an Operations Supervisor overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Conley Marine Terminal cargo activities, you are mission-driven and possess strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills. You effectively coordinate vessel and yard operations, ensuring efficient cargo handling activities, accurate plans for loading/unloading vessels, and positive customer relations. Safety-conscious, you enforce regulations, develop training programs, and maintain a safe work environment. With problem-solving abilities and a customer service orientation, you make informed decisions, recommend improvements, and provide superior, responsive service to stakeholders.
What you will do:
+ Ensure efficient cargo handling, vessel loading/unloading, and terminal activity management while maintaining compliance with regulations and policies.
+ Supervise and lead ILA workforce, promote effective teamwork, make staffing decisions, and provide comprehensive work direction to ensure safe and productive yard activities.
+ Foster positive customer relations by assessing needs, implementing strategies to fulfill customer requirements, and delivering superior customer service to external parties.
+ Ensure safety compliance, improve operations, and provide accurate reports, while fostering a safe work environment through the enforcement of regulations and the development of training programs.
WHAT YOU OFFER
+ Bachelor’s degree in marine transportation or related field, or equivalent maritime professional experience required.
+ Valid driver’s license and the ability to respond quickly in a fast-paced, potentially hazardous environment.
+ Strong knowledge of terminal operations, stevedoring, gear and equipment, and gang composition for container vessels.
+ Familiarity with OSHA and other safety regulations; able to communicate effectively with a unionized workforce.
