About the Position:

The Lead Medical Coder is responsible for ensuring accurate, compliant, and timely assignment of ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT, and HCPCS codes, including DRG and APC assignment, for inpatient and outpatient services. This position provides daily support and direction to the coding team, facilitates training and auditing initiatives, and serves as a resource for coding-related inquiries from internal departments with direction and collaboration with the Coding Manager. The Lead Medical Coder plays a crucial role in ensuring coding accuracy, documentation integrity, and adherence to all applicable coding guidelines and regulatory standards.

What we are looking for:

Education and Experience:

+ Graduate of an accredited Health Information Management or Certified Coding Specialist program.

+ Minimum of three (3) years of coding experience across inpatient, outpatient, and E/M services.

+ In-depth understanding of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, and disease processes.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

+ RHIT (Registered Health Information Technician) or CCS (Certified Coding Specialist).
