SUMMARY: Under general supervision, the Non-Destructive Inspection (NDI) Technician performs Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) utilizing liquid penetrants, magnetic particle, eddy current and ultrasonic techniques as certified, (FARS, RSM, SBs, ADs, etc.). Evaluates inspection data, interprets Inspection findings/results, and records inspection results on approved documents.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
+ Completes examinations of aircraft using dye-penetrant, magnetic particle, eddy current, ultra-sonic inspection methods.
+ Accomplishes inspections in accordance with ATS, customer, and FAA requirements.
+ Makes acceptance or rejection determinations.
+ Maintains equipment. Sets up and calibrates equipment.
+ Maintains certification as a Level I or II every three years.
Internal Progression Requirements for NDI Technician 1 are defined by the following basic criteria:
NDI Technician 1:
+ Meets Hangar or Component requirements based on work location:
+ Minimum eighteen (18) months of aircraft experience.
+ Completes two Level 1 NDT methods with documented required hours.
+ Completes Hangar requirements – ET and UT, optional PT and MT.
+ Minimum eighteen (18) months of component experience.
+ Completes four level 1 NDT methods with documented required hours.
+ Completes Component requirements – ET, UT, PT, and MT.

+ Component requirements:
+ Documented OJT experience on NDT TF-698 OJT.
+ Documented work experience on TF-777 or equivalent.
+ Ability to pass eye exam TF-806, annually.
+ No active Corrective Actions or disciplinary actions.
+ Supervisory Level: Needs supervision with Level 1 Methods.
+ Valid driver’s license required (for the state you work/reside).
NDI Technician 2:
+ Supervisory Level: Needs supervision with Level 1 & 2 Methods.
+ Hangar location –
+ Works towards completion of documented required hours for second Level 2 NDI method (ET or UT).
+ Works towards completion of documented required hours for second Level 1 NDI method (PT or MT).
+ Components location –
+ Works towards completion of documented required hours for second Level 2 NDI method (PT or MT).
+ Works towards completion of documented required hours for second Level 1 NDI method (ET or UT).
NDI Technician 3:
+ Supervisory Level: Needs minimal supervision with Level 2 methods.
+ Works towards completion of all Level 2 NDI methods (ET/UT/PT/MT) used at worked location.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
+ Successful completion of formal training in non-destructive inspection by an accredited college, university and/or vocational training school or successfully complete an industry standard NDT methods course or combination of education and training.
+ Repairman’s Certification or Airframe Certification or (A&P) Certificates required.
+ Experience in Aviation or MRO preferred.
PHYSICAL EFFORT AND DEXTERITY:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be required to sit; use their hands and arms; and talk or hear; and focus on objects close up. The employee will also be required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee may be required to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Vision requirements: 20/30 for far vision and 20/25 vision for near vision in at least one eye with or without corrective lenses, ability to pass color vision test. The ability to enter aircraft fuel cells (10” x 18” oval opening) is required.
Compensation
The full base pay range for this position is $24.25 - $41.50 per hour exclusive of benefits or potential bonuses. The lower end of the range represents the target base pay for those beginning or developing in the role. The higher end of the range is intended for those who have mastered the role, with proven significant expertise, high achievement, and specialized skills. If you are hired at ATS, your hourly rate will be based on factors including skills, education and experience. In addition to those factors – we consider internal equity of our current employees when determining offers. This position is eligible for an annual bonus. We also offer a generous benefits package, as detailed below.
