SUMMARY: Under direct supervision, the Apprentice NDI Technician performs basic tasks associated with Non-Destructive Inspection (NDI). This position participates in practical training and develops experience to progress to a qualified NDI Technician. Apprentice NDI Technician 1 and 2 job levels are categorized based on advancement through the apprenticeship program.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
+ Performs basic NDT examination tasks under the direct observation of a Level II or Level III in the appropriate method(s).
+ Records on-the-job-training (OJT) and hours of experience on approved documents.
+ Maintains NDT Shop tooling and inventories.
+ Obtains thorough working knowledge of NDT procedures.
+ Successfully completes formal classroom training in PT, ET, MT, UT methods, as assigned.
+ Sets up and calibrates equipment.
+ Accurately clocks/labors into jobs.
In addition, the following Essential Duties are specific for each level, and are required to complete before the next progression:
Apprentice NDI Technician 1:
+ Works towards a Repairman’s Certification for NDI or provides a current Airframe Certification.
Apprentice NDI Technician 2:
+ Obtains a Repairman’s Certification for NDI or Airframe Certification within 6 months.
+ Works towards completion of at least one Level 1 NDI methods.
+ Hangar – works towards completion of ET or UT Level 1 NDI methods.
+ Components – works towards completion of PT or MT Level 1 NDI methods.
+ Successfully completes all required OJT training and experience requirements to qualify for graduation from the NDI Apprenticeship program.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Apprentice NDI Technician 1:
+ No aircraft/component experience or NDI experience required.
Apprentice NDI Technician 2:
+ Minimum of twelve (12) months of aircraft/component experience or A&P certification required.
PHYSICAL EFFORT AND DEXTERITY:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be required to sit; use their hands and arms; and talk or hear; and focus on objects close up. The employee will also be required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee may be required to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Vision requirements: 20/30 for far vision and 20/25 vision for near vision in at least one eye with or without corrective lenses, ability to pass color vision test. The ability to enter aircraft fuel cells (10” x 18” oval opening) is required.
Compensation
The full base pay range for this position is $21.75 - $24.00 per hour, exclusive of benefits or potential bonuses. The lower end of the range represents the target base pay for those beginning or developing in the role. The higher end of the range is intended for those who have mastered the role, with proven significant expertise, high achievement, and specialized skills. If you are hired at ATS, your hourly rate will be based on factors including skills, education and experience. In addition to those factors – we consider internal equity of our current employees when determining offers. This position is eligible for an annual bonus. We also offer a generous benefits package, as detailed below.
