About the Role
TheManager of Billingworks directly with the Director of Billing Operations to oversee all billing, reconciliation, and collections for patient visits across Callen-Lorde. This role manages a growing team, develops and refines operational practices, ensures compliance with all applicable laws and regulations, and serves as a key resource for billing and insurance verification processes.
You’ll play a critical role in:
+ Supervising and guiding staff to ensure accurate, timely third-party revenue collection, including insurance verification and Medicaid authorizations.
+ Overseeing hiring, training, scheduling, and performance evaluations for billing staff.
+ Maintaining the security, accuracy, and integrity of electronic and paper billing systems.
+ Collaborating with providers, finance, patient access services, and payers to resolve operational issues quickly and effectively.
+ Driving quality improvement initiatives within the department.
Work Schedule:
This is a full-time position with regular business hours (Monday - Friday). Occasional evenings may be required. Callen-Lorde's main site in Chelsea is open Monday through Saturday.

Qualifications
+ High school diploma required; Bachelor’s in Finance, Accounting, or related field preferred.
+ CPC, CCS, or CBCS certification.
+ 5+ years’ medical billing and coding experience,
+ 4+ years of supervisory experience.
+ Ability to lead, train, and mentor teams on complex processes.
+ Experience with Medicaid, Medicare, ACA plans, and private insurance.
+ Proficiency with EPIC EHR and Microsoft Office Suite.
Desired Characteristics, Skills
+ Strong written/oral communication skills and attention to detail.
+ Experience in an FQHC, Article 28 clinic, or similar healthcare setting
+ Knowledge of federal and NY State patient privacy regulations.
+ Commitment to the mission of Callen-Lorde.
