ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Assistant Coordinator will be responsible for supporting the smooth, effective, and successful functioning of the ESOL programs. Specific responsibilities include;
• Assist the Program Coordinator in providing adult students with successful pathways and transitions to post-secondary education, apprenticeship training, and the workforce
• Recruit and register Adult Education participants and ensure that all enrollment numbers are met
• The Assistant Coordinator will serve as the primary intake coordinator who welcomes participants to the adult education program services, must identify participants that demonstrate an intent to use program services and who meets the specific eligibility criteria of the program. Any amount of time spent with students in the delivery of intake services, should be entered into the AEPP’s MIS system, ASISTS
• Ensure that all Program performance targets/contractual benchmarks are met & activities occur in accordance with the Program work plan on a quarterly/annual basis
• Ensure participant files are completed, regularly updated, and maintained in accordance with funding requirements
• Assist Program Coordinator in scheduling and holding regular meetings with staff, partners, and key stake holders to ensure all services are being delivered in a quality manner at required service levels and support school day learning and overall academic success
• Maintain required logs and program database(s); ensure they are updated at all times
• Help create program schedule and enroll participants in classes with deference to performance targets
• Assist in the planning, coordination, and supervision of special events, projects, and field trips
• Assist Program Coordinator in the completion of all required reports, including quarterly RiseBoro Board of Directors reports and required funder reports;
• Participate in all AEPP mandated meetings, trainings and conferences, participate in RAEN trainings for the required (14 hours of PD); maintain record of staff training completion
• Work closely with RiseBoro administration providing information on any updated policies, new data, current trends, and program changes. Utilize formal program feedback to make improvements to program design
• Assist with planning and conducting staff and program orientation sessions
• Along with the Program Coordinator, plan, coordinate, conduct, and attend all RiseBoro meetings/trainings
• Convene regular focus groups and conduct surveys with participants
• Work with participants to quickly & appropriately resolve any incidents. Inform the Program Coordinator of any issues and provide written statements when necessary
• Complete tasks deemed necessary by the Program Coordinator and Associate Director
COMPETENCIES
• Have a genuine passion for working in an Adult Education environment and be willing to go above and beyond program mandates for the benefit of the participants
• Must be team-oriented, working well with others to inspire success
• Proficiency in MS Office Suite
• Bilingual in English and Spanish (required)
• Must be organized, detail-oriented and able to multitask, take initiative, and work independently on tasks
• Must be able to effectively prioritize responsibilities, set and meet deadlines; with strong communication & writing skills
EDUCATION EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma or equivalent plus 2 years working in an adult education environment; Bachelor’s degree in Education preferred plus 1 year of working in an adult education environment
