    The Shemer Art Center is seeking a creative, customer-focused Gift Shop Specialist to join our team on a part-time basis. This role works closely with the Executive Director to enhance the visibility, organization, and sales performance of the Shemer Art Center Gift Shop. The Gift Shop Specialist ensures that the work of more than 60 Arizona artists is represented with professionalism and care, while providing an exceptional shopping experience for every visitor.

    Key Responsibilities

    + Welcome and engage guests, answer questions, and support sales transactions.

    + Share information about the Shemer Art Center, exhibitions, and upcoming events.

    + Process and record sales, package purchases, and assist visitors interested in learning more about featured artists.

    + Coordinate the bi-annual submission process for new artists, including reviewing applications, preparing jury forms, and drafting acceptance/declination letters.

    + Schedule artist intake and refresh meetings; collaborate with artists and the Executive Director to review new artwork.

    + Manage restocking needs and maintain accurate artist inventory records.

    + Ensure the professional presentation of the gift shop by creating signage, price tags, artist cards, and merchandising displays.

    + Maintain cleanliness and organization of the shop and lobby display areas.

    + Track sales, monitor trends, and recommend merchandising or process improvements.

    + Maintain artist contact lists, membership status, and review monthly commission reports.

    Qualifications & Skills

    + Energetic, friendly, and customer-service oriented.

    + Knowledge of fine art, with prior retail or gallery experience strongly preferred.

    + Strong soft-selling, merchandising, and display skills.

    + Proficiency in Mac (Apple) computers and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).

    + Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.

    Position Details

    + Part-time, non-benefited role (15 hours/week).

    + Schedule: Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays, 10:00am – 3:00pm.

    + Additional hours required during special events and festivals.

    + Hourly rate: Commensurate with experience.
