    Weston Hospital's Interventional Cardiology Department provides intra-operative care to patients undergoing procedures in the Cardiac Cath and Electrophysiology Labs. Caregivers in this department care for patients during structural heart procedures, including but not limited to valve repair and transcatheter valve replacement (TAVR). As an LPN for Cardiovascular Medicine, you will assist fellow caregivers in providing exceptional, top-quality care to a diverse patient population. You will be responsible for patient outreach prior to cardiology procedures, including providing reminders about dietary restrictions and medication adjustments, as well as managing pre-operative and post-operative patient calls. In this role, you can make a lasting difference in the lives of patients, all while enhancing your nursing skills through hands-on experience and numerous educational resources offered within the Cleveland Clinic system.

     

    A caregiver in this role works days from 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

    A caregiver who excels in this role will:

    + Provide professional nursing care to patients.

    + Administer medication.

    + Maintain complete, accurate and up-to-date documentation in medical records and files.

    + Complete authorization forms and laboratory requisitions.

    + Implement pain management assessments and documentation.

    + Adhere to the National Patient Safety Goals as outlined by JCAHO.

    + Follow Code Blue protocol.

    Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

    + Graduate of Accredited LPN program

    + Florida Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)

    + Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

    + Certification Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)

    + Knowledge of Infection Control Practices

    + Internal medicine background in a clinic-setting

    Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

    + One to two years of clinical experience

    + Experience in Cardiology

    Physical Requirements:

    + Essential Duties: This position requires knowledge of all aspects of patient care including assessing; planning, coordinating, monitoring, and evaluating the patient's progress through the entire continuum of car in conjunction with the R.N. or physician.

    + Physical Duties: This position requires frequent walking, sitting, and standing.

    + Frequent talking and listening when giving instructions and explanations.

    + Frequent use of the phone; fax machines, and occasional use of the computer.

    + Work is heavy, with constant lifting and moving patients, carrying equipment, supplies, and material up to 50 pounds without help and over 50 pounds with the help of mechanical devices or other personnel.

    + You will be stooping, pushing, and pulling when moving a patient into position for treatment; also you will be reaching, handling, feeling, and manipulation of equipment into position.

    + Working Conditions: The majority of the time employee spends indoors in air-conditioned areas.

    + The potential for exposure to blood and blood-borne pathogens is significant.

    + Clinical exposure to patients requires the use of personal protective equipment.

    Personal Protective Equipment:

    + This position is high exposure to infectious wastes such as blood and bodily fluids that mandate the wearing of gloves, masks, gowns, and goggles as appropriate.

    + Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required for procedures
