The Sovah Athletic Training Department for Pittsylvania County Schools, under the leadership of Medical Director and Orthopedics Sports Medicine Surgeon Dr. Patrick Szukics, provide high-quality care and injury management for student-athletes across the county. Team members work hourly with the option to cap their schedules at 40 hours per week, supporting a flexible structure that promotes work-life and workday balance. The department fosters a collaborative, school-based culture focused on wellness, education, and professional growth.

*How you’ll contribute*

An Athletic Trainer who excels in this role:

• Prepares athletes for practice or competition.

• Evaluates and manages injuries and determines whether a referral is necessary. Maintains a medical file on each athlete and acts as a liaison between the physician and the athlete.

• Implements treatment and rehabilitation programs under the supervision of a physician.

• Develops conditioning programs for injured and noninjured athletes.

*What we’re looking for*

The right candidate will recognize, manage, and rehabilitate injuries to student athletes under the direction of the team physician or by written referral from a physician, and in accordance with state athletic training practice act. Provides techniques for prevention of injuries and instructs/trains on safe exercise techniques.

Applicants must have abachelor’s degree in a health related field .Additional requirements include:.A

American Heart Association (BLS) provider

Must be NATA BOC certified

Must be licensed in the State of Virginia as an Athletic Trainer

Prefer 1-2 years experience.

Will train new grads
