Job Summary

The Draelos lab, in the departments of Biomedical Engineering and Computational Medicine & Bioinformatics, is seeking candidates for a postdoctoral research fellow position. This is primarily for an NIH-funded project developing multimodal variational autoencoder models and probabilistic trajectory analyses for latent spaces formed from neural, genetic, and behavioral data.

Responsibilities*

+ Researching and developing novel machine learning architectures for integration across multiple types of high-dimensional data.

+ Researching and implementing novel algorithms for analysis of latent factors and their dynamics.

+ Conducting literature searches, manuscript preparation, and presentation of findings in publication and at conferences.

+ Collaborating across labs and disciplines.

+ Assisting with training undergraduate and graduate students in the lab.

+ Assisting in writing research proposals and acquiring data from outside agencies.

+ May act as a liaison with other departments, programs, or organizations for acquiring data and sharing information related to the research project.

Required Qualifications*

+ PhD in Computer Science or Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Neuroscience, Bioinformatics, or other relevant field.

+ Experience with machine learning and statistical analyses.

+ Proficiency with Python and relevant libraries.

Desired Qualifications*

+ Prior experience with genomic data modeling.

+ Interest or experience working in neuroscience domain applications.

+ Strong interpersonal and communication skills to work across disciplines (neurobiology, bioinformatics, machine learning).

Background Screening
