Job Summary and Qualifications
The AVP Corporate Development executes HCA Healthcare’s strategic goals for inorganic growth objectives, including acquisitions and divestitures of health systems, hospitals, subacute facilities, outpatient facilities, and other material transactions. The AVP Corporate Development negotiates transactions with counterparties, including CEO’s, top-tier investment banking principals, and partners at elite law firms; negotiation responsibilities involve all business decisions associated with transactions.
Job Duties:
+ Oversees the transaction process from inception to closing.
+ Develops financial models to inform decision making associated with potential transactions; manages valuation processes with external valuation consultants to confirm fair market value of transactions.
+ Advises HCA Healthcare’s executive leadership team on transactions, investments and strategies, including investigation, planning and execution.
+ Conducts industry research and competitive analysis on acquisition targets and evaluation of new and existing markets.
+ Represents HCA Healthcare at industry events by promoting the company’s strategic objectives.
+ Provides advice to HCA Healthcare’s executive leadership team related to transactions, investments and innovation projects.
+ Requests and obtains internal corporate approvals in support of transactions, which involves gathering consensus among operations and executive leadership teams.
+ Oversees large, cross-functional teams in a highly complex task environment, subject to tight timelines.
+ Establishes comprehensive plans to execute transactions including internal and external communications, delineation of tasks among subject matter experts, and management of teams involved in the evaluation, execution, and integration of acquisition targets.
+ Develops and manages financial models for transactions by continually researching and updating underlying analysis by coordinating with other Corporate Development team members and other corporate departments.
Qualifications:
+ At least 10 years of professional experience in transaction-related business required (or at least 7 years of experience of hospital M&A).
+ Strong financial background and knowledge in Fair Market Valuation is required.
+ At least five years of increasing levels of responsibility with an emphasis on complex transactions and investments.
+ Ability to execute and implement complex acquisitions, investments and alternative complex arrangements in new or expanding strategic areas and markets.
+ Experience in strategic planning, investment analysis and management.
+ Thorough knowledge of healthcare industry, track record of good fiscal management, business development experience, and strong external presence, high energy, decisive leadership and ability to lead by example.
+ Experience indicating an ability to present complex matters to executive leadership to drive decision making, followed by the translation of high-level guidance into executable plans.
+ Excellent communication skills, an extensive working knowledge of business/contractual law, and a win-win approach to joint ventures.
+ Strategic thinker with high integrity, solid values and commitment to the mission of HCA-Development.
