    Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) – Generalist

    Job Type: Full-Time / Onsite (Contract-to-Hire Potential)

    Summary:

    We’re seeking a Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) – Generalist to join a dynamic urgent care lab in Lancaster, CA. This role involves performing a broad range of diagnostic tests across multiple disciplines in a fast-paced clinical setting. Ideal for adaptable professionals who thrive in collaborative environments and are comfortable covering multiple benches.

    Key Responsibilities:

    + Perform testing in Hematology, Microbiology, Clinical Chemistry, Urinalysis, Immunohematology, Serology, and Parasitology

    + Operate and maintain lab instruments and equipment

    + Conduct quality control procedures and ensure regulatory compliance

    + Analyze and interpret test results with accuracy and timeliness

    + Collaborate with healthcare teams to support patient care

    + Assist in training and onboarding of new staff and students

    + Flexibly cover multiple lab areas as needed

    Serology-Specific Duties:

    + Conduct infectious disease testing (HIV, Hepatitis, Syphilis, )

    + Run autoimmune panels and titer testing

    + Utilize ELISA and chemiluminescence platforms

    + Interpret antigen-antibody interactions and troubleshoot discrepancies

    Schedule & Structure:

    + Training Period: Full-time, Monday–Friday, 8/9 AM–5 PM (2–6 weeks)

    + Coverage Needs: Full-time hours expected due to staff LOAs

    + Shifts: 8:00 AM to 10:30 PM, 3x/week or more

    + Evening & Weekend Coverage: High demand across 7 days

    + On-Call: Monthly scheduling

    + Open to: Full-time and part-time candidates

    Qualifications:

    + Valid California CLS license

    + Bachelor’s degree in Clinical Laboratory Science or related field

    + 1–2 years of experience preferred (acute care hospital setting ideal)

    + New grads considered if highly adaptable and knowledgeable

    + Strong communication and documentation skills

    + Ability to work independently and collaboratively

    Lab Environment:

    + Small urgent care lab supporting ambulatory and outpatient specialties

    + Moderate volume: ~400 specimens/day, ~300,000/month

    + No tissue specimens

    + Flexibility to cover 2–3 benches as needed

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $60.00/hr.
