The University of Miami/UHealth Department of SCCC has an exciting opportunity for a Full Time Director, Research Laboratory to work at the UHealth medical campus in Miami, FL.
CORE JOB SUMMARY The Director, Research Laboratory ensures the effective technical and administrative management of laboratory functions to meet the institution’s goals of patient care, education, and research. Further, the incumbent provides leadership and mentorship to scientific operations staff and guarantees compliance with rules and regulations.
CORE JOB FUNCTIONS
1. Directs, establishes, and plans the overall policies and goals for institution’s laboratory services.2. Monitors and directs all accreditation, regulatory, and licensure requirements.3. Writes and updates procedures and manuals and reviews them annually to ensure that employees have current information needed to perform tests and procedures.4. Works closely with hospital staff, department management, and physicians to ensure the highest standards of quality and service.5. Collaborates with upper management to identify areas of opportunity and implements plans of action.6. Establishes and continuously assesses the effectiveness of the internal controls within the unit and compliance with University policies and procedures. Ensures employees are trained on controls within the function and on University policy and procedures.

+ Communication: Ability to influence others, articulate strategic vision, and ensure clear and persuasive communication.
Department Specific Functions
+ Work closely with investigators within the Crane Lab to support all aspects of grant applications, including budgets and justifications, scope of work, research strategy, for investigators within the Crane Lab.
+ Oversight of all research studies and projects, including data management, regulatory compliance, and protocol fidelity. Conduct regular meetings with research teams to ensure adherence.
+ Oversees department and research budget and identify areas of opportunity for cost reduction. Liaise closely with departmental account managers.
+ Recruit and manage all research staff and students, prepare performance reports and disciplinary recommendations. Liaise closely with Recruitment, Human Resources, and Payroll departmental managers.
+ Contribute and prepare reports, data briefs, manuscripts, auxiliary publications as requested.
+ Build the public reputation of the Crane Lab through enhanced dissemination of work through community and social media activities.
