    Under the supervision of the Environmental Services Director, assumes a supervisory role among the housekeeping staff with duties including ordering and maintaining supplies, training of new staff, staff schedule oversight and other duties as required. Maintains regular duties as Housekeeper II; ensures a clean, safe, and attractive facility in accordance with departmental policies and procedures.

    Essential Functions

    Roles and Responsibilities

    + Oversees shift staff, including effectively assisting Director with hiring, performance monitoring, and employee discipline as necessary.

    + Trains new staff on cleaning procedures, policies and protocols, including 10-step cleaning process.

    + Orders and maintains supplies.

    + Ensures departmental outcomes are being met by conducting daily and weekly inspections.

    + Assists the Director with staff scheduling, weekly assignments, and management of time off requests.

    + Demonstrates ability to multitask and delegate among the housekeeping staff.

    + Ensures assignment of duties considering patient flow and daily schedule.

    + Displays good working relationship with internal and external customers.

    + Dry Mops, wet mops/sanitizes, spray buffs/burnishes hard floor surfaces.

    + Performs project assignments which may include stripping and waxing hard floors, extraction of carpets, deep cleaning of furniture /equipment, wall washing and removal of drapes/cubical curtains.

    + Vacuums, shampoos and removes spots from carpeted floors.

    + Performs routine 10-step cleaning of patient and non-patient areas.

    + Performs discharge and terminal cleaning of precaution rooms, including wall washing and cubical cleaning as needed.

    + Follows patient safety protocol.

    + Removes and transports trash from assigned areas.

    + Completes daily assignments within shift hours.

    + Empties trash and laundry bags as needed and transports to designated areas as assigned.

    + Moves equipment and beds as needed.

    + Maintains equipment in good, clean, working order.

    + Reports equipment problems and safety hazards to Supervisor on a timely basis.

    + Performs room set-up and break-down for hospital meetings and functions.

    + Cleans the operating suites as described in departmental policies and procedures, as assigned.

     

    Other Duties as Assigned

     

    Completes other duties as assigned.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    Education

    + High School diploma or equivalent.

    Work Experience

    + Current environmental services experience required; experience in a healthcare setting preferred.

    + Prior experience in a lead/charge role preferred.

    Skills

    + Strong organizational skills, and the ability to use computerized applications for scheduling, supply ordering, etc.

    Physical Demands

    + Must be able to lift, push and pull 50 pounds and stand for 90% of shift.

    + Must be able to push, pull, bend, kneel and squat as an essential function of the job.

    + Manual dexterity sufficient to operate vacuum cleaners, wet mops and wringers.

    Work Environment

    + Patient and non-patient areas
