Summary This National Guard position is for an ALLIED TRADES WORKER-Title 32, Position Description Number D1220000 and is part of the WI CSMS, Wisconsin National Guard. Responsibilities As an ALLIED TRADES WORKER-Title 32, WG-5801-8, you will to assist higher graded workers in performing work in the skilled trades' occupations in support of maintenance functions. Engages in joint operations with higher graded workers. Rotates through trades areas to gain experience. Requirements Conditions of Employment MILITARY REQUIREMENTS: Compatible military grade and assignment required prior to the effective date of placement. This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard. Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership. Military Grades: E-1 through E-9 and WO1 through CW4 CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT & NOTES: Must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance of the position. This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position. Ability to establish effective professional working relationships with coworkers and customers, contributing to a cooperative working environment and successful accomplishment of the mission. May occasionally be required to work other than normal duty hours; overtime may be required. The duties and responsibilities of your job may significantly impact the environment. Participation in direct deposit is mandatory. National Guard Membership is required. Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service. Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation. May be required to successfully complete a probationary period. Qualifications GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience or training which demonstrates knowledge of equipment to be able to do routine jobs, simple preventative maintenance tasks, and can use common tools and equipment in the line of work. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: To qualify for the WG-5801-08 level you must have experience or training using common hand and power tools and a small variety of test and measurement devices to make mechanical repairs. Experience removing, adjusting, replacing, cleaning, and installing a variety of parts, components, and accessories. Experience which demonstrates a basic understanding of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic theory applying to vehicles; and skill to replace, fit, install, and make adjustments. Experience demonstrating an understanding of the makeup and operation of the various individual systems maintained and their interrelationships. Experience reading and interpreting parts lists, manufactures' repair manuals, diagrams, and electrical schematics.
