Description
A Finance 360 Intern will develop a working knowledge of the Burns & McDonnell Accounting & Finance Department through a rotational internship. This position will rotate through various accounting and finance teams including but not limited to Financial Reporting, Operational Finance, Financial Technology, Financial Analytics, Project Accounting, Billing, Accounts Payable, Internal Audit, Project Costing. This is an in-office position located at our Headquarters in Kansas City.
An intern will perform a variety of tasks through assigned team rotations such as assisting with:
+ Financial Reporting activities such as reconciliations, journal entries and month-end reporting deliverables.
+ Financial analysis and review of key performance indicators of the company, divisions and locations to provide meaningful insight.
+ Financial Analytics reporting, including utilizing data models to build informational dashboards for stakeholders.
+ Project Accounting duties, including review of vendor/subcontractor invoices, verification of receipt of materials/equipment or other deliverables with project teams, and assistance with review and reconciliation of project financials.
+ Internal Audit testing including review of the company's internal controls, traveler expenses and physical verification of assets
+ Accounts Payable activities which include processing AP invoices via OnBase software platform, processing AP payments, investigating and resolving issues with Procurement groups and Project Teams.
+ Billing project setups including interpreting client contracts to determine proper invoicing requirements.
Other key Intern responsibilities include:
+ Lead and plan events for various committees within the Accounting & Finance department
+ Engage in a series of professional development modules with their assigned mentor
+ Deliver a final presentation highlighting accomplishments over the internship.
+ All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
+ Pursuit of Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related program
+ Prior internship and/or related consulting experience Preferred
+ Actively involved in campus, community or other volunteer activities or organizations.
+ Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
+ Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
+ Basic knowledge and experience in Microsoft Office programs, including, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
+ Demonstrated leadership skills.
+ Self-motivated and eager learner, aptitude to grow and develop within the field.
+ Minimum of a 3.5 GPA strongly preferred.
+ Involvement on campus or in the community preferred.
+ Candidates must be legally authorized to work permanently (i.e., without time limitations, without restrictions or without need for work sponsorship) in the country where this position is located.
