    PART-TIME or FULL-TIME | SEASONAL POSITIONS AVAILABLE

    SUMMARY

    We’re hiring full-time and part-time ski and snowboard instructors! Whether you're a seasoned pro or brand new to teaching, if you're passionate about snow sports and eager to share that love with others, we want to hear from you.     ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES (include the following, other duties may be assigned)

     

    + Energetic, passionate, and hardworking

    + Friendly and welcoming to guests of all ages and skill levels

    + Committed to at least 24 days of work throughout the season

    + Equipped with their own gear, including a helmet (we can help with this if needed)

    + Willing to complete training and grow within the team

    + Excited to share their love of skiing or riding with others

     

    Our training will prepare you to teach at a level you're comfortable with. Responsibilities include:

     

    + Delivering high-quality, professional instruction to guests

    + Participating in ongoing training, both in-house and through PSIA/AASI

    +  Supporting fellow instructors and resort staff across departments as needed

    + Upholding the Ski & Ride School customer service philosophy:

    1. Know where they’re coming from

    2. Make a plan for their success

    3. Love them

    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

    This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.     EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

     

    Less than high school education; or up to one-month related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

    LANGUAGE SKILLS

    Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

    MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

    Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

    REASONING ABILITY

    Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

    COMPUTER SKILLS

    Basic computer skills are needed to utilize the scheduling and attendance systems.

    CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

    PSIA Certification is preferred.

    OTHER SKILLS & ABILITIES

    Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are an essential part of this position. Must be able to interact cooperatively with all other departments. As a snowboard instructor (especially full-timers) it is beneficial for you and the school if you are willing to learn to teach skiing as well.

    OTHER QUALIFICATIONS

    You must have your own ski/ride equipment including helmet (which we can help with) and complete on-snow and off-snow training at the start of the season. Instructors must be 18 years of age or older, possess a passionate, positive attitude; support the mission of the resort and follow the company’s policies and procedures.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS

    The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand and walk. The employee is occasionally required to sit and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include distance vision, peripheral vision and depth perception.

    WORK ENVIRONMENT

    The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

    RESORT CONDITIONS

    This is a Winter Resort Area. It requires that work venues are varied, and in many cases include steep stairways, multilevel buildings and outdoor work areas, subject to very cold, sometimes wet or very sunny work sites. Some facilities are located at the base or bottom area and some are semi-remote and can only be reached by traveling via chair lift(s), skis or snowboards. Walking surfaces are frequently frozen, sloped and slippery. Proper footwear is a must, indoors and out. Work days and hours, as well as the number of hours required will vary, with an emphasis on weekends and holidays.

    + Wages ranges from $17.25/hr to $23/hr, depending on work experience and certification.
