    Job Title: Transportation Planner Job Description

     

    We are seeking a motivated and strategic AICP-certified Planner and Grant Writer to lead and support planning initiatives and funding strategies for infrastructure, transportation, and community development projects. This role will be instrumental in helping local governments secure funding and execute transformative projects.

    Responsibilities

    + Identify and research grant opportunities for infrastructure, transportation, and community development.

    + Write and submit grant applications to federal, state, and regional agencies.

    + Coordinate with internal teams, including traffic, roadway, and NEPA/environmental specialists, to ensure seamless project execution post-award.

    + Support larger planning efforts, such as Comprehensive Transportation Plans (CTPs), corridor studies, and long-range planning.

    + Engage with local governments to align funding strategies with community goals.

    + Create Comprehensive Plans, Transportation Plans, and Land Use Plans.

    + Develop zoning ordinances, design guidelines, and growth strategies.

    + Conduct community engagement and public meetings.

    + Align funding opportunities with community needs and infrastructure goals.

    + Collaborate with engineers and environmental specialists to ensure compliance.

    Essential Skills

    + 10+ years of experience in urban planning, traffic/transportation planning, and grant writing.

    + AICP Certification (American Institute of Certified Planners) in urban and regional planning.

    + Proven success in securing and managing public sector grants.

    + Strong understanding of local government processes.

    + Experience with transportation planning software and comprehensive transportation planning.

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

    + Experience securing funding from USDA Rural Development, EPA 319 Nonpoint Source Pollution Grants, Community Development Block Grants, FHWA Transportation Alternatives & Enhancement Programs, GDOT REBC Beautification Grants, FEMA Hazard Mitigation Grants, and Atlanta Regional Commission LCI Grants.

    Work Environment

    The position offers a hybrid and flexible schedule. The work environment is collaborative, with opportunities to work closely with traffic engineers, roadway designers, and environmental specialists. The role involves attending client meetings, municipal workshops, and conducting site visits or field assessments. It also includes participating in internal strategy sessions and industry events to represent the firm.

     

    Job Type & Location

     

    This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Duluth, Georgia.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $65.00 - $80.00/hr.
