Position Summary
Bookkeepers are essential for ensuring the financial health of businesses. By maintaining accurate financial records, processing transactions, and supporting financial planning, bookkeepers contribute to the organization’s overall efficiency and success.
Key Responsibilities
While specific duties can vary depending on the company, common responsibilities of a Bookkeeper include:
+ Recording Financial Transactions: Accurately record cash receipts, expenditures, invoices, and other financial entries in accounting systems.
+ Bank Reconciliations: Regularly reconcile bank statements to confirm accuracy between financial records and bank activity.
+ Accounts Payable & Receivable: Process payments to vendors and invoices to clients, ensuring timely transactions and addressing discrepancies.
+ Payroll Processing: Manage payroll records, ensuring accurate calculation and processing of employee compensation.
+ Financial Reporting: Generate and review financial reports, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
+ Expense Tracking: Monitor business expenses and categorize transactions to aid in budgeting and financial planning.
+ Tax Preparation Support: Provide necessary documentation and data for tax filings, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.
+ Maintaining Records: Organize and safeguard important financial documents, ensuring retention and accessibility.
Requirements
Preferred Qualifications
+ Proven experience as a bookkeeper or in a similar accounting role.
+ Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, Xero) and spreadsheet tools like Microsoft Excel.
+ Solid understanding of accounting principles and financial processes.
+ Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
+ Excellent problem-solving and communication abilities.
+ Relevant certification (e.g., Certified Bookkeeper designation) or coursework in accounting (preferred but not required).
