Hours Part-time, include requirement and total hours per week - as needed, not to exceed 16 hours per week
Summary of Position
Instruct continuing education courses in Nurse Aide curriculum. A maximum of 16 hrs is allowed per week. Instructor Pool.
The purpose of this position is to conduct classroom and clinical training of nurse aide students leading up to certification. This is accomplished by supervising students in a clinical setting at an assigned local long-term care nursing facility, maintaining required student records including attendance, grading, student progress, and skills training.
The Nurse Aide Instructor works under the general direction of the program director. The Nurse Aide Instructor confers with the program director or navigator regarding attendance, grading, student progress, clinical site coordination, state licensing examination scheduling, and other pertinent information essential to the nurse aide training program.
Responsibilities
+ Demonstrate and apply a thorough and accurate knowledge of the teaching field and discipline;
+ Plan and organize instruction in ways which maximize student learning. Practice excellence in teaching and instruction;
+ Modify instructional methods and strategies to meet diverse students’ needs;
+ Prepare lesson plans and teach course as prescribed by the approved institutional curriculum;
+ Encourage the development of communication skills and higher order thinking skills through appropriate assignments;
+ Completion of online courses related to teaching adult learners.
Minimum Required Education
+ High School or GED required with acceptable combinations of education and work experience.
+ Pertinent degrees or certifications when required for subject matter taught.
+ Associate degree in Nursing.
+ Must be a current Licensed Vocational Nurse ( LVN ) or Registered Nurse (RN) licensed in Texas
+ Minimum of one-year long-term care facility experience is required.
Minimum Required Experience
+ Must be a current Licensed Vocational Nurse ( LVN ) or Registered Nurse (RN) licensed in Texas
+ Successfully completed a course in teaching adults, experience in teaching adults or supervising nurse aides.
+ Ability to plan and follow a curriculum.
+ Ability to keep a classroom full of students engaged in the learning process. In other words, you must have strong communications skills.
+ Perform other duties as assigned.
+ Higher education teaching experience.

+ Ability to maintain an effective classroom learning atmosphere.
+ Ability to work under precise and exacting conditions.
+ Ability to interact effectively with the public, students, faculty and college personnel.
+ Knowledge of long-term care facility regulations on patient care.
+ Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
+ Ability to effectively present information to students.
+ Ability to utilize various teaching methods such as lectures, discussions, and demonstrations.
+ Ability to plan, coordinate, manage, direct classroom, skills lab, and clinical training experience for students.
