    License and Certification Qualifications: Commercial Driver's License (CDL) preferred.Education Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor's degree in related field preferred.Experience Qualifications: Five years experience in an office/clerical environment required. Transportation experience and/or worker's compensation experience preferred.Skills Qualifications: Strong interpersonal and human relations skills; ability to read and interpret documents; ability to write and maintain routine correspondence effectively; demonstrated problem solving abilities. Strong computer applications skills; ability to maintain records with a high degree of accuracy; knowledge of Workers' Compensation guidelines and physical requirements for bus managers, and policies, procedures and processes regarding personal disability and return to work, light duty, and work performance standards. Working knowledge of GCPS transportation operations, including rules, procedures, and operations of Federal Motor Carrier Safety and the Georgia Department of Motor Vehicle Safety, and the GCPS driver handbook. Ability to interpret various nonstandard medical diagnoses and integrate diagnoses with nonstandard training procedures; ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing, in a professional, positive, and respectful manner;.Primary Responsibilities: Manage people operations functions within the Transportation department, including the recruitment, application processing, leave of absence, return to work / light duty evaluation, Commercial Driver's License (CDL) management and renewal, and annual health physical process for transportation employees.1. Coordinate the active recruitment of Bus Managers and Bus Monitors.a. Actively seek out and recruit candidates for Bus Manager and Bus Monitor vacancies, partnering with Human Resources colleagues as needed.b. Ensure that appropriate avenues are being fully utilized to reach potential candidates (online job search boards, job fairs, etc.).c. Track Return on Investment (ROI) of recruiting methods used.d. Assist with job fairs and coordinate representation at recruitment events as appropriate.2. Oversee the processing of applications for Bus Manager and Bus Monitor vacancies and processing of rehires. a. Track applicants and candidates through the application process to ensure timely review and processing of applicants for hire, or rejection.b. Assist with applicant issues escalated by team members and provide guidance as needed.c. Evaluate and review potential candidates for rehire.3. Coordinate informational sessions conducted for existing Transportation employees and for potential candidates for hire.a. Conduct regularly scheduled informational sessions for potential candidates for hire, providing candidates with information required to proceed with the application process.b. Oversee regularly scheduled Commercial Driver's License (CDL) teach / study sessions. 4. Oversee transportation employee long-term absenteeism and leave of absence request process.a. Partner with Human Resources on transportation extended leave requests to ensure accurate processing and timely communication with employees.b. Communicate estimated return to work for employees on leave as appropriate.c. Take follow up action to ensure employees receive necessary training to successfully return to work.d. Process return to work and personnel action requests (ePAR) leave authorizations for transportation employees.5. Assist with work-related injury management for transportation employees.a. Receive and complete the first injury report and submit report to the Risk Management Office.b. Communicate with employees concerning injuries on the job.c. Monitor and manage the status of work-related injuries.d. Take follow up action to ensure employees receive necessary training to successfully return to work.e. Process return to work and personnel action requests (ePAR) leave authorizations for transportation employees.6. Assist with injury/illness reporting for the Transportation Department.a. Provide weekly management reports on the status of all personnel not available for work, including the reason for the absence and the projected date for return to work status. 7. Coordinate the health physical process for all employees holding a CDL.a. Contract, coordinate, and schedule the required annual physicals for all transportation personnel holding a CDL.b. Ensure annual physicals occur within 60 days of the start of the school year.c. Distribute the schedule of annual physical appointment times to supervisors, including explanatory information packets.d. Enter annual physical results into a database and send updates to managers and supervisors of bus managers requiring individual follow up, due to failing physical or missing appointment.e. Manage and resolve incomplete annual physicals before the start of the school year.f. Coordinate and schedule post-officer physicals with healthcare provider's offices.g. Verify and submit billing information for health physicals to the Finance Department for payment.8. Assist with the processing of transportation employee records.a. Ensure that all transportation employee documentation including training records, performance documentation, annual job evaluations, leave requests, Workers' Compensation documents, is securely submitted to the Human Resources division for indexing into the employee personnel file in Enterprise Content Management (ECM).b. Assist Human Resources with production of records for documents not in ECM.9. Communicate with all customers, management, and employees in a friendly and professional manner. a. Handle all communications in a professional, courteous, well-informed, and efficient manner.10. Perform other duties as assigned.Physical Demands:While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit for extended periods of time. The employee is also required to talk, hear, stand, and walk. The employee will be required to use hands to touch, handle, feel, and/or reach. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, climb, crouch, or use/stand on a 6 - 8 ft. ladder. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
