The Lyndonville Central School District is seeking a dedicated and certified Special Education Pre-K Teacher to serve students in our early childhood special education program. The ideal candidate will be committed to providing high-quality, developmentally appropriate instruction to preschool-aged children with disabilities in accordance with their Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), New York State regulations, and best practices in early childhood education.
Key Responsibilities:
+ Develop and implement IEPs in collaboration with the Committee on Preschool Special Education (CPSE), parents, and related service providers.
+ Deliver specially designed instruction to meet the individual needs of students aged 3-5.
+ Use NYS Learning Standards and evidence-based early childhood curricula and practices.
+ Provide instruction in inclusive or self-contained Pre-K settings, as assigned.
+ Conduct ongoing assessment and maintain documentation of student progress toward IEP goals.
+ Participate in CPSE meetings and provide input on student progress and programming.
+ Collaborate with teaching assistants, therapists (OT/PT/Speech), families, and other professionals.
+ Foster a supportive, structured, and engaging classroom environment that promotes learning, language development, and social-emotional growth.
Required Qualifications:
+ Valid New York State Teacher Certification in one of the following areas:
+ Students with Disabilities (Birth-Grade 2), or
+ Special Education (Permanent Certification)
+ Bachelor's Degree in Special Education or Early Childhood Education (Master's preferred)
+ Knowledge of early childhood development and disabilities
+ Experience implementing IEPs and using data to guide instruction
Preferred Qualifications:
+ Familiarity with the NYS Early Learning Standards and Prekindergarten Foundation for the Common Core
+ Experience with preschool assessment tools (e.g., Brigance)
+ Experience working in integrated settings and using inclusive practices
+ Bilingual in English and Spanish (or other languages) a plus
+ TCI and First Aid/CPR certification preferred
