• Rehabilitation Aide

    UPMC (Washington, PA)


    Assists in the provision of patient care under the direct supervision of the licensed clinical staff, including OT, PT, SLP, PTA and COTA, and in accordance with practicing state's acts for those disciplines. Provides both clinical and clerical support as required by the facility. May include transporting patients as necessary in a safe, comfortable, courteous, timely and professional manner via prescribed transport vehicles. May assist in the training of therapy volunteers.

     

    This position will work a schedule of 7 am to 3:30 pm Monday, Wednesday and Friday and 11 am to 7:30 pm Tuesday and Thursday.

    Responsibilities:

    + Performs clerical tasks including registration, scheduling, filing charges, and maintaining logs.

    + Manages medical supplies by conducting weekly inventory and assisting with ordering.

    + Supports therapy services by applying modalities in line with state therapy practice acts.

    + Assists with onboarding of new aides and therapy volunteers.

    + Ensures patient safety during transport and treatment, communicating patient location to the care team.

    + Maintains cleanliness of work areas and equipment per regulatory standards.

    + Handles patient logistics including transfers, setup, escorting, and transportation.

    + Provides administrative support by answering phones, documenting activities, and maintaining linen supplies.

    + Observes and reports patient responses to treatment to licensed clinicians.

    + Follows safety protocols including emergency procedures and proper body mechanics.

    + High school diploma or equivalent is required.

    + Bachelor's degree in exercise physiology or rehabilitation science, preferred

    + Previous experience as a therapy technician or nursing assistant is preferred.

    + Previous customer service experience, preferred

    Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

    CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire

     

    + Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
